I boiled it in a blue enamel pot using Biz detergent additive. Have used the powder in the past but none was available so used the liquid. Cup to cup and a half, changed the water twice, put new Biz each time. I used a Coleman camping propane stove. Took 3 bottles. The enzymes in the Biz break down the tissue and caused it to turn loose from the bone. Got the idea about a museum doing this for their skeleton display of different animals. After caping out the head just start boiling. Time consuming is the only issue really.

That is a nice mount Blockbuster. Back in the days, I used to do a few mounts myself as well. I used an old galvanized tub and place it on a BBQ propane burner, mix some borax and water and simmer the water for a few hours until the tissues and brain matter softens and clean the skull well with a power washer. Keep the waterline below the brow line on the horns. Boy, I get splattered with brain matter doing this with a power washer, once almost cleaned, i throw the dirty borax and water out, fill with fresh water and borax again and resume the simmering process a few more hours and once more with the pressure washer after. After done, the skull will have some off color. I would get a paint brush and some salon bleach, apply carefully on the bones and set the mount in the sun a half day, and rinse it with water. It will brighten the bone color to a bleach white. real good stuff. I have placed skulls on ant hills, those ants will clean them right up within a week.

No bleach, it makes the bones brittle. I use peroxide, but I'm far from an expert. I'm doing the 9 I got this year, probably this weekend.
here is a link to an old thread we had on here about Euro mounts . I put up a few pics of the jaw bone a local guy uses for a picture frame . might give you guys a few ideas .

First European mount
Working on my first European mount, next is the salt boil and pressure blast after. more likely it will need another boil after. Hopefully comes out pretty good for a first timer. Been lurking on You Tube on how they do it.
