Thanks Doc! That looks pretty promising.

These will be my first loads with LRT. I have a ladder loaded to shoot tomorrow. Pulling from Hodgdons site I loaded a few 3 round sets around what I figured would be upper middle loads, hoping to get lucky and have bug holes land in my lap. They are .015” off the lands at 3.450” so I have some freedom with seating depth. We‘ll see what the rifle, targets, and Magnetospeed tell me.

EDIT: If LRT doesn’t work out I’ll move on to Staball HD. 7828 and RL25 treat me well also.

Keep us posted. I'm watching for your results. Interested in lrt and staball HD. 7828 is pretty good but might be a little fast for 180s. RL25....pass...lol

Kinda surprised to hear that for RL25. I was able to put together a very accurate load shooting the 175gr ELD-X over 67.5 grains of RL25. When I’m having a good day at the bench it will give sub 1/2” groups with velocity of 3003 fps average. But I’ll be sure and pass on what I get with LRT.

Can’t argue with those results.

I say that only because of availability but also not "temp stable" I don't think? I suppose the "availability" could be said about my go to H1000 though as well...

Been a while with my 7mm Rem Mag but I got a little over 3k fps from a 26” X-Caliber barrel and a 76.5 grain charge of LRT today with 175 grain ELD-X bullets loaded to 3.335” OAL, .020” off the lands. I didn’t get any pressure indications but didn’t try and push higher, and was happy with the velocity at 56 degrees temps today. I’ll work with it for groups the next time at the range. The 180 grain Hybrids topped at 2986 with the same charge weight, without pressure signs as well. Velocities fell perfectly in line with the Quickload Dr Mike was kind enough to look up.

The powder builds velocity very smoothly. There were no spikes whatsoever. I’ll get a picture of the page from my load book to show it. No bumps along the way at all.

I still need to check it when it’s warmer but it has potential. Velocity gains were gradual and smooth. I think it may work out. Also looking at the MSDS it looks to only have three ingredients. Just a straight forward ball powder. I did however add TubbDust to it.

I agree. We have more great powders we can use now than ever before. It makes it difficult to choose one in particular.

It’s hard to beat the old 7 Rem. Still one of the best.

LRT sounds excellent
I've spent a bunch of money trying to find something I like better , but my 7 Rem Mag is the first rifle I pack to go away hunting .
it just keeps gettin it done .

I was starting to work with RL26 when the powder shortage hit . since then a few more powders showed up , that have my interest , one being "Grand " . Joe is sure making a strong case to give "LRT" a try too .

Same here Jim. A 7 Rem was my first BG rifle. I used it for woodchucks, deer, bear, crows, moose, coyotes, caribou. If I was a smart guy, I would have had one built like my Mashburn and been a happy camper. The Mashburn is just about everything I need but the 7 REM would have been just as great. I still keep the old Brownell around and shined up though since I can’t stand being without a good 7RM.

The thing I like about this load is that it doesn’t feel like I’m leaning too hard into it. I know it’s definitely a top load but it gives a push rather than a slap when you pull the trigger. Have any of you pulled the trigger and just “felt” like you’re pushing it? This doesn’t feel that way. Maybe I’m nuts, I don’t know.
