After fireforming 225 pieces of 2X fired brass from the old BR barrel into the current ( 350 rounds in ) barrel with 105 VLD and 105 Hornady Match. The VLD's shot very well at the the match last month while fireforming brass. The Hornady Match did not perform like I wanted for some reason during testing. Now that the VLD has run out, and I have a full 500 round box and a bag of roughly 100 pieces of 105 Hybrids left. Annealed and prepped all Lapua brass, and loaded a few 3 round groups in .2 increments. Best grouping was with 6 ES at 2840 fps. Just ordered two more 500 round boxes of Hybrids, should be in today. Should last the life of this tube. Bartlein is working on a new 30 inch 7:5 twist barrel to be sent to me roughly in 8 months or less. Bat Machine is working on my new 6 BRA as well, should be in next Spring. Ernie Bishop ( xphunter) is sending me my new NEO rest next Spring as well. I guess I already have my early Christmas presents for 2025. Good to plan ahead of time on the new barrel.
Old 26 inch BR barrel used 30 grains Varget to run at 2845-2850 fps
Current 28.5 inch barrel uses 29.5 grains Varget to run at 2840-2845 fps, I could run faster at 2900, but not necessary.
Half a grain less powder than the old barrel.
3 shots at 100 yards / 12-15 mph variable wind left to right, I am happy with this node of 6 ES and will try again tomorrow.
