Why is it that when men go to the grocery store, we get the first item on the shelf and women have to look over everyone then get the third one back? Asking for a friend

While in High School I worked in an Acme Super Market as a teller and did everything else also, I was taught to rotate stock on shelves putting the new stock in the rear and moving the old stock forward, to this day when I shop I check the code dates and pick the product which has the longest shelf code.
I want the freshest product I can buy, that's probably what your wife is doing also.

I have seen the shelfs stocked this way and do pick the freshest milk dates. I see people pick the back items without looking at dates. Guess they just know from experience or maybe it just speaks to them.

.... I hate to say this, because I am all for the principle of what you are saying here, but most things I buy when I actually go to the grocery store, or am picking up beer... I grab the far back one. I don't trust the world, people get into some nasty stuff and don't wash their hands, people are messed up.. the stuff that has been handled the least is more appealing to me and in some cases it may be a day or two more fresh.. but it's more about it hasn't been messed with.
