I have a tang safety Ruger M77V, in 243, that shoots well under 1" with a max load of Varget and Sierra 70 grain BlitzKings. I haven't tried the Noslers, because these shot so well. Turns Pdogs to red mist.
I just put together a Dtech upper in 25 wssm, with a RRA lower.
Would you mind sharing your exact load?
Are you loading to fit the standard mag. or longer?
Thanks
I'm wanting to load 150 grain Nosler Ballistic tips in 30/06 for my son.
Not sure what powder to start with. I was thinking Varget.
I have H-4350, IMR4064, H-4895, H-335, and Benchmark on hand.
I normally load for 7mm and smaller cartridges, so not sure where to start with a .30 cal. Any...
I'm shooting 45 grains of H-4350 with the 110 grain Accubonds in my tang safety Ruger, in 257 Roberts. And 46 grains H-4350 with the 100 grain Partition. I think these are both about 1 grain over max. but my rifle shows no signs of pressure. Both group under 1"
I just picked up a 30-06 for my Son.
Was going to load it with 165 grain BT's.
However, I've got guys telling me this bullet will splatter if my kid shoots a whitetail in the front shoulder with it. They say to use the Accubond.
Then I got guys telling me the Accubond is to tough for whitetail...
I wouldn't think the AB would open faster than the BT, as the AB bullet is a bonded bullet. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I've had guys tell me not to use the AB in my 257 Roberts, on whitetail deer, as it won't open. The 110 grain AB shoots great in my 257, and I plan on using it anyways.
