    Alliant Re17 powder

I will be giving it a try in a 243 win with 95 to 100gr bullets. I beleive that should be a good combination for whitetail.

problems with powder burn rate charts!

+1 This is why I always try to get the larger container of powder. This helps keep variables from lot to lot of the same powder from causing issues. If I have to get a new container of powder and I am using it for a load that I know is near max, I will load a couple rounds at a lower charge and...

What kind of rest are you using? I would double check to make sure there are no variable at the bench.

    .257 Weatherby - which one?

If you can get you hands on a Sub-Moa that is great. I lived just down the road from the Weatherby manufacturing facility in Paso Robles, CA. I tried to get a 7mm Rem Mag Sub-MOA and was going to have to wait for at least 6 months to get one. Just like Kimber and other high end manufactures...

    Bronze vs Brass Bore Brushes

I only run lead through my Springfield 22lr. It has the 25.5" barrel and is a good shooter as long as I do not get too agressive when I clean it. A couple dry patches every 500 rounds and it is fine, but if I try to use a bore solvent on it, good luck for at least the next 50 rounds. I have...

    Rem 700 CDL Bolt issue

I have a question for you guys. I have a Rem 700 CDL in 7mm Rem Mag. I have had the gun for 8 months now. It has around 300 rnds through it. When it was brand new out the of the box, there was a shallow scratch inside the bolt face. This scratch does leave a mark on the primer. However, it can...

    7mm Rem Mag Powder

I like RL22 for 160gr AB in my 26" barrelled Rem 700 CDL, but have not tested H1000 and IMR 7828. I have plans of testing them, but would think those would be some of the best. I would think H4831 would be a good powder for 140s and 150s. RL25 and slower would probably be a waste of time with a...

    Load data stickers

Mailling labels work good too. You can get those at any office supply store. Then you just need to go on there website and get the template for the labels you have chosen. Create the label with the information you want and print them off. You can then manually fill them out as you need them. The...

You would just have to check the remaining balance on you dental plan before you go to the range.

    Primer Sealant

Thanks Mike. I was going to do a similar test with submerging a few rounds in water, but i see it was already done. I always figured that if water could easly get in through the primer, there would be a burnt on residue around the primer from the primer ignition before it could be sealed by...

    Group size

With a new rifle out of the box, I like to see 1.5" groups with factory loads. I then am sure that I can get it under an inch with reloads. If I can not get a rifle under 1", it really bugs me. 1" is ok, but .5 is what I am working for in a hunting rifle. I bought a Ruger Mk II in 25-06 (24"...

    Primer Sealant

I was wondering if any one uses a primer sealant on their reloads? I did not find any posts on the subject and was interested in any feed back and experences.

    Not impressed with Winchester brass

One time I order a 50 count of Win brass in 25-06 and 5 of them had a 30-06 head stamp. They were necked down correctly, but i did a double take when I saw them.

    pics of scary reloading accident

The strange thing is that the containers for AA #7 and R7 are completely different. AA#7 even has a picture of a hand gun on the bottle and is a spherical powder. I have not used R7, but am sure that the powder granules are different. That is a big mess up. I hate to see this kind of stuff...

    215 Federal primers

I ran out of Fed 215s and no one had them. I ran 215s in by 25-06 and 7mm Rem Mag. I was getting consistant .5 to .75 inch groups with 54.1grs of R22, 215s, behind a 117gr Horn SPBT in my 25-06. I would start seeing flattened primers in my 25-06 with 55 grs of r22 with the 215s. My 25-06 is a...

    Wsm

If I had a to choose between the two, I would take the 7mm. One thing that I have not seen posted yet is barrel life. I am sure you would have to be more careful with the 270 then the 7 at the range. Also, the fact that you can run a 175+ grain bullet will help slow things down. +1 for bullet...

    Righty shooting a Lefty

My grandfather is a lefty and I found shooting his left handed bolts fun. However, practice working a left handed bolt 22 LR or 243 Win is a lot easier then a 338RUM. I would suggest getting a cheap 22 that is left handed and see how you like it, or just go to a gun shop and test one out.

    Stupid Newbie question?!?

Please note that I also said to stay away from the Max loads. You should always start low. Every rifle is different. Tight, loose, and weak chambers change the way pressures will affect the rifle.
