    Determining OAL

One Armed Willie here (at least that what my wife likes to call me...I had my shoulder arthroscopically repaired two weeks ago). Anyway, what is the best way to determine OAL? I know I will get 150 different answers, but just trying to get some advice. I am loading 270 win for a Marlin XL7...

    Length Question (s)

OK, so in that case, I guess the right way to work up a load then would be to load 1 rd, put in my rifle, and keep seating until desired length? Since my rifle doesn't have a detachable magazine, I would just try to put one in my magazine and rack it into my chamber, correct? Also, i am using...

    Length Question (s)

I just reloaded my first rounds (only 5) yesterday for my 270...used 54 gr H4831, Remington Brass, CCI LR primers, 140gr Nosler BT Hunting. So, here is my question...the "instructions" say seat bullet to desired length (the manual gives min/max). How to figure the desired length? Is there...

    PRIMERS??????

I can understand your arguments as well, and agree with them. However, I live in MS, and during Hurricane Katrina, there was a fuel shortage. According to friends of mine that run a fuel hauling business, one casue was this: there were individuals that were sitting on 3/4 tank (again, an...

    PRIMERS??????

TJRoberts... With all due respect, it's people like you that make it scarce for others. If you intend to buy a couple thousand of them, do you intend to reload that many really fast? I have about 300 primers on my bench, but wont use that many for a while, but certainly not "thousands". The...

    PRIMERS??????

My local Bass Pro sell almost no reloading stuff. I did however find some powder and primers there. For the primers, it seemed like nobody even knew they were there... Kevin

    45-70 reloads/Hornady Leverevolution

I also remember readoing somewhere that the 45-70 handloaded "better" than the 444. The reason given was that by the time you added powder to the case, you had little room for bullet seating depth. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks, Kevin

    45-70 reloads/Hornady Leverevolution

Oh, one other thing...I would love a guide gun like that, but in order for us to hunt with it in primitive weapon season, it must be a single shot, breech loading, exposed hammer of .35 cal or larger. Kevin

    45-70 reloads/Hornady Leverevolution

Thanks Pop. I don't have a scope yet, will probably hunt with the iron sights this season (only 10 days left), but was looking at the cabelas brand leverevolution for mine. They seem to have good reviews. I really wanted a 444, but those things are hard to come by... Kevin

    45-70 reloads/Hornady Leverevolution

SO, from what I am hearing, everyone likes the Leverevolution factory loads for their 45-70 Govt. I will probably shoot a box of those since there isn't but about 10 days left in the season, and I don't have any dies yet for my new 45-70. But, my real question is this... What are you guys using...

    New rifle advice

Yeah, that's what I found out yesterday...too bad the only thing I can find around the Jackson area is a 45-70 govt. I don't mind that cal, but I wanted something different. Kevin

    New rifle advice

Not .35...According to the MDWFP site, it's .38 and larger. A 35 Whelen would be great though I've never asked at a gun shop, but always seen the TC Encore barrels for sale, but never priced not just the barrel. How much doe the Encore's run? Thanks, Kevin

    New rifle advice

So, with MS changing thier primitive weapon season a few years back, I want to get something to hunt the last ten days of the season this year (starts on Jan 22) as well as for seasons to come. The law states this "...single shot, breech loading, cartridge rifles (.38 caliber or larger) of a...

    IT IS HAPPENING!

I agree we need to keep a pulse on this situation, but the bill is dead in Mississippi (since Jul 08). I didn't click on the other states info links, but I would venture to say it is dead in some other states as well... Kevin
