    300 win load SLOW

Well this is good enough for right now. 3/4" is fine with me 2930 is pretty fast and I cant complain about what it has always done on the far end to Deer and Elk. I am going to take my 20 year old leupold off and send it in for a CDS turret. Last time I checked it was about $150.00. With a 200...

    300 win load SLOW

Well I did some tinkering and things got a little faster, I was able to pick up 100 fps and keep the groups tight. All are 4 rounds, from 74.5-75.5 top speed was 2931 average. I think my flinch was on display, as I was shooting the 338 rum today as well. Jon

    300 win load SLOW

Tanks for the input, I am going to fiddle with a little more powder, and agree that it will be hard to get any better accuracy. The animals in the past did not know that the things were running a little slow, before I knew the velocity's. Thanks again. Jon

Thanks Mike for the great data! My thought are it is shooting great but, I will bump it up just slightly and see where I am at. We are only talking 3 inches at 500 yards. Jon

    300 win load SLOW

Ok I know this has come up before but here it is. I am shooting a 300 win and tested my loads across the cronograph a cople days ago. I was astonished at how slow they were going. The first one was a 185 g Berger vld hunting bullet, 74.0 grains of H 4831sc with an average velocity of 2823 fps...

LEE R.E.A.L. bullets any one casting them

I am aware of the twist rates in the guns and get excelent goups with rouns balls. However i also used to get great groups with ball-ets that are no longer made. I was thinking the 50 cal 250gr real bullet was close to that.

LEE R.E.A.L. bullets any one casting them

I have a couple of 50 and 54 cal hawkens that are 1-60 and 1-70, and wanted to try some Lee real bullets before i buy a mold. Is anyone casting them and willing to part with a few? I am willing to pay the freight so to speak. Thanks Jon

    2014 Hunting Pictures

Colorado Muzzle Loader 2014, We took 4 deer in 4 days, two bucks and two does. The weather was hot and hunting was tough for just about everyone we talked to. We were lucky. I always hunt the same mountain 30 min from the house. We had no shots longer than 70 yards.

Hornady fbp 300-350 gr any reviews

Well I tried the 300gr fpb and could not keep it on the paper at 100 yards? So I switched to 295gr power belts and got great groups 3 touching at 100 yards with 120gr of Pirodex Select. However the power belts seem to blow up or under penetrate, not that the deer can tell, but we only had one...

Hornady fbp 300-350 gr any reviews

I just bought a T/C Encore XT, and I am interested in the Hornady FBP bullets because I live in Colorado. I have been shooting a Hawken with a Green Mountain 1-60 barrel for years with 90 gr of ffg or pirodex under a round ball. However this year it rained a bit as you may have seen on the news...
