With all the talk about the 325WSM I ran across this over on the Bullet forum. Looks like it would put the hurt on the 325WSM big time with the wider range of bullets available.
I'm sure Homer Oz can enlighten us on this one since it was created down under.

Naturally as a 35 caliber fan I thought about it and even necked up a 325 WSM case to 35 and seated a bullet, looks cool. I do wonder if it would have sold a bit better than the 325 has, guess we will never know. The 35 WSM should come quite close to duplicating the great 358 Norma Mag, it would be an easy wildcat to form and rebarreling a Short magnum action would be no problem.

Here is a 350 Rem mag that was rechambered to the round.

http://www.35cal.com/ruger77_350wsm.html

That's one of the stories I read gerry. I would never build one since the trouble of resale would be almost impossible.

Charlie, they don't seem to be excessive to me, that is less than 358 Norma speeds and the WSM case should be quite similar in capacity.

Rodger, I guess if a guy wanted to try a 350 WSM maybe keeping around a take off barrel in a standard WSM case would be good. Just have it swapped and sell the gun, consider it part of the cost for having a wildcat.

I was pretty close to doing a 35 WSM. Ended up with the Newton instead. I'm pretty sure In a Winchester it'd be really good as the magazine would allow seating the bullet into the case neck but not below the shoulder neck junction. I bet it could be made into a really handy package that made good use of the powder used.

I like just anything .358" so I'm kind of a sucker for the anyhow.

I know buddy, me too

Do you have the 350 WSM on Quickload? Would be neat to see what the round is capable of, should be quite close to the Norma and the Newton

I might have it Gerry. I'll check it out once I get back to my computer.

Your right though, they should all be relatively close in performance.

The only load of his that I was interested in was with the 225 gr. TSX which I shoot in my .35 Whelen. He only got 140 FPS more than what I get. I thought it would be more.

I shoot a .375 Taylor; the .338 Win. Mag. necked up to .375 caliber. Duplicates the .375 H&H in a 30-06 length action. Very accurate and kicked like an angry mule in that 7.5 pound rifle. It's one you carry a lot and shoot as little as possible.

Yes, wildcats are hard to get rid of. Probably have to rebarrel it to something more popular.
Paul B.

I guess I don't care too much about resale when my mind gets stuck on something. Chances are unless it's a complete dud I'll probably hold onto it for quite awhile.

Looks as if it would deliver a pretty good blow to anything shot with one of those bullets.

If I had a 300WSM it might be something I would consider and send it to JES for a rebore and chamber job.

G'Day Fella's,

Truck Driver, I do remember the initial (only) magazine article on this cartridge!
IIRC, it was the idea of one of the people (Breil Jackson?) from http://www.gunsgame.com magazine.
I'm not sure if you can gain access to these articles via the interweb, so when I get a chance, I will try and locate this article!

It would certainly be an impressive performer but until I see the need, I'll stick with my .350 Rem Mags (Rem 763 & Ruger MkII stainless)!!!

Edited by Homer; I just went and had a look via the above web address, and then clicked on both Article Index and also Back Issues!
The whole story of this cartridge and rifle starts in the year 2002 in issue #34 then continues in 35, 36 and finishes in year 2003 in issue #37.
Unfortunately, you can only gain access to the first page (I think?) of each of these four articles via this web site, so I will try and track them down for you ASAP!!!

Hope that helps

Doh!
Homer

The poster data actually is a little stronger than what I get from my 20.5" barreled 35 Newton.

I'd think it would be a great one for a heavy game thumper. Seems like a good use for a WSM case. Plus the WSM cases are pretty danged tough.

The twenty-four inch barrel helps velocities. Still, it would deliver quite a thump to whatever was shot with it. Loaded with a 280 grain Swift A-Frame, it would deliver a whoopin' on most anything.
