35 WSM/35 Sambar

G'Day Fella's,

Sorry for the delay in locating this info;

These above velocities, are from a 23" barrel.

As we all expected, the .35 Sambar is basically a .358 Norma, in a short action!
FYI, I'm able to safely get within 150fps out of a shorter 22" barrel, in my Rem 673 (M-7) in .350 Rem Mag.
So if I feel the need for a couple hundred more fps, I'll grab my .338 Win Mag...............

Hope that helps

Doh!

I think its a great idea for a short action round. I have to say, for 20yrs, in my 22" Mod 700 35 Whelen Improved I have used 58gr H322 behind the Barnes 200X original, then the next model with the secant ogive for 2970fps. Over the years I have checked it and rechecked it over 3 successive Chronys. This rifle, as most of you know, has that Remington long throat and 1/16" twist. I use 58.5gr with the newer 200 TTSX for 2950 ( so I know my Chrony isn't "stuck"), ha. I also get an honest 2414fps with the Woodleigh 310 and 55gr R15. I'm thinking his load data is on the conservative side for that Sambar! I mean, I would think that WSM case is getting as good, if not better efficiency as my Ackley?

Fascinating data, Homer. With a variety of 35 calibre rifles, wonder why the Sambar intrigues me? :grin: Won't do anything that my 358 Norma won't do, and either my Whelen or my 350 RM is barking on the heels of this rifle. Still...
