Last Time that I use Luepold.... On anything

I love all my leupold optics, but I don't use the mounts on anything I own. I prefer Talley and Dednutz. You don't have to worry about that dang windage screw and with the Dednutz, you can really put the torque to them. Maybe one day the hard feelings will wear off and you can start using them...

Is it my load or barrel?

It is a Sako AV Fiberclass. I believe that its a McMillan stock that has aluminum pillars. Someone has done a skim bed on the action. I might have it figured out, but I'll know for sure in the morning. I could try seating deeper, but the pressure point deal made my problem reverse, too much, but...

Is it my load or barrel?

I tried the pressure point idea with business cards just to put a little pressure on the end. results...... first two- side by side third- 2" low instead of high I might be on to something if I can just get the height right, whigh might be harder than expected. caribouhunter, I'll have to...

Is it my load or barrel?

update from this morning, started with a clean bore, shot one fouler then proceeded to shoot a three shot group. The pattern of starting to the right then going left and up is still there. Between the first, second, and third shot was about 3-5 minutes. I decided to give it a lot of cool down...

Is it my load or barrel?

DrMike, I try to give it at least 5 or 6 minutes minimum between shots. Do I need to give it a little longer? I just kind of started noticing the pattern and tried to remember the big groups and they were about the same. All of the groups (4) since I noticed it were the same. I'll let it cool a...

Is it my load or barrel?

Ok, here we go, I've worked on a load for my .338WM and have decided to go with 73gr of RL-19 because it just shoots better than anything I've tried. I started with 71gr and worked up to 73.5 at .010 off lands with the best group at 73gr (1.26", not exactly what I was looking for never the...

    Grizzly Update Number One

Awesome photos, Mike. Maybe some day I can get above the border to take a look-see. As for the grizzlies, if I saw one I'd probably be diong the scating . Keep it coming, DrMike, thats some good reading.

    7mmRM Sierra 150gr M/K pet loads?

Thanks, fella's. I took a chance and went with IMR-4350. I started @ 59gr, shot three into .912", then shot three more @60gr that did pretty good. The rifle can shoot better so I'll keep on playing with it. It seems to be on the right track, though. here's my 60gr group [/img] sorry for the...

    7mmRM Sierra 150gr M/K pet loads?

Could someone look up load data from the Sierra manual for me?

    7mmRM Sierra 150gr M/K pet loads?

Does anyone load the 150gr Sierra MK in 7mmRM? If so, please let me know how they do and what to use. A friend gave me some to try, but I don't usually load Sierras so I don't have a load manual for them. I've got RL-22, IMR-4350, and RL-19 so if one of those powders work that would be a bonus...

    Sako paint job finished

Sorry about the delay, had a dove shoot sat. and cooked for a group of friends yesterday. I started by stripping off the old paint (had an odd camo pattern with silver in it???) wich was a real pain. A plus would be a plain synthetic stock to start with. I picked up some olive drab acrylic...

Tikka T3 : which model to choose ?

I have a varmint .308 and love it, it's one of the most accurate rifles I have EVER owned without having to do the complete accurizing works. It has shot everything I've ran through it 1/2 MOA or better with no modifications. It is a bit on the hefty side, though. If I had to carry one for a...

    Sako paint job finished

Thank you, DrMike. Now if I can get her to shoot, I'll be very pleased.

    Sako paint job finished

I finally got my first paint job finished on my Sako. After a long look at other paint schemes I settled on the olive/ black webbing. The olive turned out a little glossy, but it'll do. I used acrylic urethane for the olive and Krylon webbing spray over it.

    Carcano Got A Bad Rap!

thanks, POP. I guess I should have stated that I haven't looked in several years for it online, just catalogs. It used to be in a Cabelas catalog years ago but not now. I stuffed the rifle in the back of the safe and quit thinking about it. Would you trust ammo that old? If I get caught up with...

    Carcano Got A Bad Rap!

I've got one in 7.35 that hasn't been shot in 20 years, mainly because of the problem finding ammo for it. I shot the last 5 rounds when I was a teenager thinking ammo was plentiful, WRONG! I would like to find some brass and load some, or better yet, buy some already loaded. I bet it would be...

    Trail Cam Pics

Man, those are some good-looking bucks! I'd have a heart-a-choke if ol' big nasty walked in range. Please let us look at him on the ground when you kill him. WOW, that looks like fence posts growing out of his head. Good luck with them.

    question about 20 MOA bases

Chet, let me re-phrase a little. I think I asked the question wrong. Is there a different zero because of the line of sight vs bore?

    question about 20 MOA bases

I just got a Leupold 6.5-20x50 LR with target turrets for my 7RM Sendero and I've got to get new mounts for the 30mm tube. I love Talleys, but was thinking about some 20moa bases or a DNZ Game Reaper one piece, also a 20 moa unit. My question is how do you figure your clicks with the 20 moa...

Ballistic tips. Some tougher than others?

I've saw BT's perform flawlessly on a number of occasions, it used to be the only bullet I would use. I've shot a 175 lb whitetail buck at 75 yards from stem to stern, found bullet under hide on the hind quarter and it was a picture perfect mushroom. I also shot a 210+ lb buck at 110 yards with...
