I have both, and have swapped trigggers between them. Same trigger for both rifles, and aftermarket M700 triggers should work for you too.
Your factory trigger can be "fixed" as well. What do you want the new trigger to do?

is Alliant's new BP substitute. Talking to the Mag Kor guys at SHOT I learned that their BlackMag XP will be sold by Alliant under the Black Dot name. The distribution arrangement was only recently signed, which should help big time in making BlackMag XP available.

Over the years I have owned about one of every caliber, and a couple of .338s. I have figured my .375 Ruger M77 Hawkeye African will do anything you need a medium bore to do (all the .338, .35 and other .375s went down the road).

I bought mine from another reloader who had two, basically a press in new condition for a good price. I would look around if you are not in a hurry...jim
Steve,
Welcome to the list, and thanks for contributing to the 6.5mm lore here.
I have been shooting a 6.5-'06 for about 10 coons' ages, and am now thinking about building a rifle for one of the short action cartridges. The 6.5-284 is my leading contender this winter.
I usually don't go over...
I use 7X or 8X for general purpose, usually 32mm to 42mm objectives.
I like to use a porro prism binocular (dog leg shape) for the woods, and I have an older Swaro 7X42 Habicht -- Swaro still sells this glass and it is lighter than the SLC design IIRC. You could also get a bino harness to help...
Another vote for buying from Doug at Cameraland, he stands behind his stuff. I also shopped the Leica rangefinder sale and got a 1200 CRF.
The compact binos are good while the light is up, but I have found that a larger objective is needed at sunrise and sunset when the light is down.

Not everyone can learn to shoot a .416 or .458, but almost everyone can learn a .375. I have used the .376 Steyr and the good old .375 H&H in Africa, and they do work on Cape Buff. I am shooting a .375 Ruger now, and I would look at one of their rifles for your choice.
Me and a good buff in...
peabody,
Most folks that use an 8mm on game report they are happy users. I haven't had a chance to try the WSM version, but reports I have read are what you would expect...jim
I remember someone of other doing a demo of firing a rifle with Pachmayr LoSwing mount operated between shots, still a pretty small group.
The makers are happy not to pay for iron sights, they certainly stopped any development of them when scopes got popular.

RR1,
I thought that rifle had a 5 MP camera built in? ;)
I admit to wanting to give that cartridge a try. How is the deer hunting around there? Worth applying for a tag?...thanks...jim
