    Gift Rifle Purchase

There was a serious accident recently with a Mossberg ATR. The bolt body turned but the locking lugs did not. The rifle fired and the bolt came back. Sorry to have to tell this.

    long range rangefinders

I don't agree with the above post. I have a Leica 1200 scan and I don't need the animal at all! I just scan the ground where it is. The reading is just fine, accurate and easy to do. With the scan model you just let it show the numbers and pick the # that goes off next to the target...

    Project or Safe Queen?

Yotesmoker, I may have the same model that you do and its a very nice rifle. While I can't see yours and know how it looks it sounds ready to hunt to me. I see that rifle as neither a safe queen or a project gun. Its a rifle ready to use. You can get a front sight or a dovetail blank to...

Blaser R 93. Has anybody ever used one??

The Blaser R93 design scares me. I can't tell when they are locked or not. Too many blowups with Blasers. No thanks at any price. http://www.deportiro.com.ar/english_art ... sion.shtml[/url]

VX-7 from LEUPOLD.. WHO HAS SEEN ONE

I have lost interest in old design scopes like the loopy now that I can get a Zeiss Conquest. The best prices on Conquests are at Cameraland.

    Presidential candidates

Ronald Reagan got his ideas on Conservativism from Bill Buckley and his own background. Its to Reagans credit that he was able to turn correct theory and ideas into reality. Reagan was the real achiever. Reagan was one of the greatest men ever to walk the face of this earth.

    Competition Rifle (What to buy???)

Mike, If you have had a good look at the matches in your area then I would select a rifle best suited to win some particular event. Now that is what I would do as I had a burning desire to win. Many others who did not win first place seemed to also have a good time and showed up for each...

IMR 3031 Load Data needed for 6,5x57R Mauser

I would think you need to know your pressure limits since its an 'R' cartridge. What rifle do you have, its it a break open with less pressure tolerance? Otherwise you might use 257 Roberts data. Find Powleys Computer on line. Its the original data calculator for imr powder.

Bullet Seconds on Shooter's Pro Shop

I bought some and they vary with stains etc. Most of them are still in the bags. Why bother with variables? Keep buying them please as it reduces my cost of first quality bullets.

Vote in this anti gun poll

Vote no in this anti gun poll. We were down 60 to 39% and now its reversed and we have gone ahead. I bet the paper would have pulled it but this has happened overnight. Come on lets pile it on...

    New Scope

I have been shooting for over 50 years and still have a dozen or so Lymans. They were an upscale scope back in the 50's and 60's and more. Then I got 10 Leupolds as they were the best in the 80's and 90's for value. Since I got my first Zeiss Conquest I have not bought another Leupold...

    William F Buckley has died

The father of the modern conservative movement has passed away. Buckley was an erudite patriot who led many towards conservative thought. Ronald Reagan himself admitted that he was a democrat when he started reading Buckley's National Review. On of my favorite things that I have read about...

Hornady Index of Terminal Standards (H.I.T.S.) Calculator

I agree with you. The calculator is worthless in my opinion. Even the advice on the bullets listed below on that page is wrong. It lists the application by muzzle velocity and not striking velocity.

I agree. I have no interest in a 338 magnum let alone heavier harder kicking loads in one.

Need advice to choose a Leupold

To all, If you could compare a Zeiss Conquest to a Leupold in the field or at the range you would not buy another old design Leupold. The Conquest design handles glare where the Leu will not. Leupold crosshairs turn pink and fade looking towards light. I bought 10 Leupolds til the Conquests...

    Berger Bullets

I am using Berger VLD bullets in the rifles that they make them for when hunting on the farm here. The VLD's have a superior BC, Bill Davis the inventor helped me with a program and Barsness says they work well on deer sized game. I killed two deer with them and they are superb.

    New Rifle Stocks

WHELENATOR, If the work has not started on the 700 yet consider moving it on and just buying a complete rifle. It seems that money and the rifle weight are most important to you right now? Just buy a Kimber Montana. It will come with a state of the art stock that and the entire rifle, in a...

    Wsm

You may have a point but I don't agree with you. In my view the main reason that the 7mm WSM did not catch on was that it was introduced late after it was recalled! I like the 7mm bullets better. Most 7mm rifles have faster twist than the .270's and therefore superior BC's when wanted. The...
