Thanks for that Dr Mike, there's a place for you at my campfire anytime!
Here are the results from todays testing:
AR2213SC, MOA, Velocity
50.5, 1.43, 2850
50.9, 1.23, 2866
50.9, 1.29, 2797 (the following shot 7 days later)
51.3, 0.68, 2858 (?query velocity?
51.6...
Is it possible for someone to run the following combo for me please:
Ruger Hawkeye in 25/06
Federal brass
Rem 9 1/2 primers
AR2213SC powder
Nosler 115gn Ballistic Tip .257
The ADI manual max is listed at 52.0gn AR2213SC.
I hope to let these rip this weekend if the weather holds fine...
If that's the case Dr Mike would you say that I'm getting quite good velocity at a safe working pressure with 57.7gn?
I'm not particularly confident working consistently near max loads so I'm thinking what I've got's pretty good.
Regards,
Dicko.
Good to know this information is of some assistance!
I haven't used a 'varmint' style bullet before - can't wait to see how they go.
Dr Mike, if I read that correctly, is the max load (Quick Load) for AR2209 59.5gn or 60.8?
You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be trying the 85gn BT one day...
Randy that is good news.
I don't think I'll get to the low temps where I am in Australia but definitely the hotter temp seems fine for me.
It gives me quite good velocity too - 3127fps with 120gn bullet.
Regards,
Dicko.
0.5 to 0.6 MOA with 57.7gn AR2209(H4350).
Very early on yet and more testing to confirm accuracy however it's looking pretty good. Each group was nice and even with no flyers.
Barrel length is I think 24 inches.
Regards,
Dicko.
G'day all,
Just thought I'd share my results for some loads worked up over the weekend.
Powder: AR2209
Case: Nosler
Primer: Rem 9 1/2
Projectile: 75gn V-Max
Rifle: Ruger Hawkeye
AR2209 MOA Velocity
54.4, n/a, 3288, work up
55.2, n/a, 3317, work up
56.0, n/a, 3346 ...
I've been using Boretech Eliminator for quite some time. I tried their Copper Remover however decided the Eliminator was the ticket. Really cleans up the copper fouling.
Sometimes I alternate with G96 or BBS or similar.
Regards,
Dicko.
JD338,
I would have to work up a load for this bullet. Cartridge is 25/06.
I have been using 117gn Hot Cor Federal loads but have just worked up a load for 120gn PT.
However as I quite often come across a few wild dogs and cats, I thought the BT would roll these and be a good general purpose...
G'day,
I've just come back from firing off a few crackers in the end stages of working up a load for my 25/06.
I reckon I'll use 58.3gn Re25 with the 120gn projectile as my working load, gives me ~1moa groups and even better when I do my bit, at a velocity of 3127fps.
Regards,
Dicko.
G'day all,
Every now and then it's a requirement of my job to put down a bull/cow/weaner.
This requires either a frontal head shot or side one from 100 feet or so.
Would the above bullet withstand the impact and penetrate to the brain?
Regards,
Dicko.
Ah this is all good to hear. Load development isn't finished yet so I'll persist with Re25.
I won't post all my info, however I'm thinking 58.3gn Re25 will be my working load, for 3104fps which I'm more than happy with.
I thought I may be pushing things a little too much as a charge of 58.9gn...
G'day all,
New member from Australia with a question about the suitability of Re25 behind 120gn projectiles in the 25/06?
Are there other members out there using it, and if so, what are your comments on the suitability, velocity, accuracy etc?
Also, a rough idea of charge weights would be...
