    Alliant Power Pro 2000LR

If these powders keep on coming magnums could be a thing of the past. When you consider bullet improvements including higher ballsitic coefficients, and improved terminal performance, and then look at the newer powders adding a 100+ fps to cartridges compared to the powders used 20...

    Slowing down copper?

I had a rifle that fouled very quickley and I thoughly cleaned it with Sweets and then used tubbs final finish bullets to polish the rifling cleaning again every 5 shots. I worked really well for me and would recommend it for any rifle that fouls badly. It is much easier to clean now.

I would love to that in a Long Range Hunter Model. The current model is a little pricey.

re-barrel.... what calibers choices to replace 223?

If the rifle is a shooter and the barrel has some life left in it I would suggest rechambering it to AI first to see if it is a shooter. This is inexpensive relative to a rebarrel and the AI is a pretty nice step up in the 223 it gains 100+ fps typically.

    Interesting RL 17 article

I am on my 9th loading with remington brass. I neck sized with Lee collet dies 7 times before FL sizing was required for chambering. I have not had a loose primer pocket yet on any of the brass. I am using CCI200 match primers.

    Interesting RL 17 article

I had a guy run quickload for RL17 in my 06 for the 168 grain Nosler BT and 200 grain accubond. My OAL on both rounds was 3.41" and my brass capacity was 68.5 grains. I am using a savage 116 rifle so I set my max pressure at 65,000psi. The max charge estimated at 65,000 psi for the 168 grain...

Cory's First Elk Taken With A 100 Grain Partitions

Dosent he know any better! You cannot kill an elk with a rifle that does not end in Magnum. Thats great to see. Probably the first of many elk.

Anyone condidering a Marlin XL/XS7 should read this

Guns in that price range are probably more prone to workmanship issues in general. The key is how the manufacturer handles the problems when they arise. Sounds like the service dept has their act together. That gun design if very similar to the savage design and from all accounts shoots...

    Green STILL Shows on Patch!!

I have used Butches Bore Shine and 7.62 and Bore Tech Eliminator. Of the three Eliminator is best at removing copper by far and Butches is the weakest. Bore Tech is odor free and fast acting. I have used butches and 7.62 and then followed with Eliminator and the patch is blue. When I used...

Ailing question over the .300 Win Mag.

The SAMMI max OAL for the 300 WM is 3.34". Depending on the bullet used having a long magazine length could result in the bullet being jammed into the lands when it is chambered. As ridge mentioned this will result in elevated pressures which could be a safety issue. The design goal of the...

    7mm-08 on Elk

The 7mm 08 is only around 150 yards behind the well respected 7mm Rem mag when you compare downrange ballistics. It is a pretty solid 350 yard rifle with the right bullet particulary at the altitude most elk are taken. The average Joe probably should not be shooting any further than that when...

300 Mag Number 1 Trophy Rifle According to B&C

Yes it is. I am 30cal fan myself. Based on the posts in this thread it seems most, if not all responses were mislead by the data into believing the 300 Win Mag is the most popular trophy rifle and gathered 18% of the trophys, and that is not correct. It is bow/crossbow then 270(winchester I...

300 Mag Number 1 Trophy Rifle According to B&C

The way they did that comparison makes zero sense to me. Why would they break out every individual cartridge and then lump 4+ cartridges together and collectively call them "300 magnum". It does nothing to quantify which of them is the most popular or even how much of the 18% share does each...

    30 cal 168gr E-Tip

When you get a chance would you measure the bearing surface and post your findings. I noticed the 168 is nearly the same length as the 180 etip and a lot longer that the 150s so I am guessing its bearing surface is quite a bit less than the 180s/150s which may reduce pressures relative to the...

    30 cal 168gr E-Tip

When I ran the ballistic at 10,000 feet I still had over 2,000 fps and over 1500 ft/lbs KE at 750 yards, assuming I can get 3,000 fps muzzle velocity like the Ballistic Tip. I am hoping to use the 168 BT for Deer and 168 Etip for Elk. To put it into perspective my 06 with the 168 etip shoots...

    30 cal 168gr E-Tip

I am more excited to try this bullet in my 06 than any other bullet I have seen so far. I hunt elk at 10,000 feet and this bullet should be effective up to 600 yards if it can accurately be lauched at velocities similar other 168 grain bullets.

    200gr .308 E-Tip?

A solid copper 200 grain bullet would be great for penetration and terminal performance but might not have the best Ballistic Coefficient. It would be getting to the point that the bullet would have to be less streamlined in order to keep the length short enough to stabilize in a 1:10 twist...
