JD338,
Sorry for such a slow response been kinda busy the last couple days. Had a friend of mine ask me to do some yote hunting on his land since his cows are calving. The high load was running at 3750 fps and it shoots like a dream.
I had a chance today to make it to the range with my 22-250. I had 3 different loads developed for the 55 grain NBT. All loads were shot at 100 yards in 3 shot groups. Every load shot amazingly well, they measured under one inch.
Load one started at 32 gr the one in the bull is a sighter...
Yea now I get to have fun making a new range chart and just shooting in general. I'm pretty pumped about this new powder, it's supposed to have a better tolerance to extreme temp changes and meter really well. I'm wondering if it will shoot as good with the 55 grainers. I'll keep you guys posted.
According to the load data 36 grains gives 3925 fps out of a 24 inch barrel. Because I can only estimate due to the lack of a chronograph I would say around 3900 fps or maybe faster out of a 26in barrel with 35.5 gr. The chrony is next on my list for equipment.
So i had a chance to get out the the casselton range today to try out some new loads with IMR XBR 8208 in my 22-250. It was nice out today about 18 degrees and little to no wind which is odd for this time in north dakota.
I started the loads off at 33 gr and worked my way up to 36 grs. in .5...
Have you guys had any experience with 8208 XBR from IMR i hear its supposed to stay stable in almost all weather situations and velocitys compared to the grains is amazing. Somthing like 3925fps with just 36grs as a max load for a 50gr pill. They have a big write up on it in the new hogdons...
I would keep it a 264 WINMAG just for that fact that i own one myself and its an awsome caliber. I have an uncle that also has a 7mm stw and he is drooling over my 264.
I was looking at a gun identical to the one you got, at a pawn shop but they wanted about a grand for it. The stock was in a...
Thanks JD338 here is what im shooting

200 yard group with H380 Below
600 yard group
Up here in North Dakota there seems to be no shortage in most powders that i know of. Large rifle primers are pretty scarce though with plenty of small rifle primers and pistol primers around. But i couldnt tell you when the powder and primer shortage will come around for the better for...
I acually have one of these Ipod touches. Matter fact I
using it To write this message. And I have the bulletflight app. Supposedly it's a millitary grade ballistic calculator, and in active use in afgan. As far as I can see it works spot on it even accounts the coriolis affect. It will also...
The 338 win mag would be a great choice but im a little unfarmiliar with opening up the bolt face on the action. I was looking at getting a shilen barrel, did some research last night on some of the barrels. And the 280 AI would be my second choice for a caliber, ive always wanted one. Now...
Well he basicly handed the gun down to me now that he has his Browning. So i guess i was just curious as to what i should do with the action. Such as, is it good a goo action to make a custom gun around. And this is a project of mine now. I was kinda looking at turning the gun into a all...
So as this years deer season kicked off my dad told me to check if his rifle was still sighted in from last year. So i got the rest all set up, set up a target and some loads that i had made for him. First shot i took was about a foot and half low. So i adjusted the scope and shot again and i...
I have a remington SPS with that same 1 and 14 twist. And i also had some troubles with H380 and the 55 grain NBT. I gave Reloader 10x a try and seated the bullets about .020 off the lands. They shot really good, and it was toward the end of the winter last year. The down side to the powder...
Well if it helps you out any I own a Rem 700 SPS in the 22-250 cal. It shoots very well from 100 to 600 yards. All i did was sand out the pressure point in the forearm of the stock.
This is a 600 yard group with my SPS
Here is a side View of my rig.
And a 200 yard Group
Havnt had a...
Whats the Vel. on your loads with Ramshot Magnum. What kind of groups are you getting with them as well. I have a Rem. 700 CDL in the 264 also. Its likes the 130 AB's over Reloader 25 and a CCI250 primer. Haven't had a chance to put them through a Chrony yet though.
Since we are on the subject of cheap guns, what was the biggest steal you guys have ever stumbled on. Just curious i guess. I can honestly say this was my first 700 and im sure i will not stray far away from BIG GREEN. My CDL shoots good at 100, about 3/4 inch. Didn't get a chance to shoot it...
Thanks guys. When i mean cheap it was 500 brand new out of the box. And have read reviews that only made this gun sound OK shooting if that. I did however, remove the pressure point on the stock of this rifle. That was the only modification to an other wise stock rifle.
Next up is my Rem 700 264...
The pictures are working now, and i got lucky with the range its private but my brother works for the guy that owns it. he said anytime i wanted to shoot i could anytime i wanted.
