The T3x solves non-existent problems. The pad is softer, yes, but it still needs replacement by a Limbsaver. Ejection port is larger, apparently to facilitate easier single top loading. This detracts from the rigidity of the action imo, which could negatively affect accuracy. Metal bolt...

Out of a Tikka T3 Lite stainless using Big Game:
120 NBT 3126 FPS
140 Partition 2890 FPS
150 eldx 2790 FPS
StaBall has slightly higher velocities posted, but not enough to be interesting.

I get groups in the .3 or better at 2790 fps with my existing recipe. A 5x6 bull and a bunch of deer couldn’t argue much with the lethality. I was quite surprised at the similarity, ballistically, between the two loads. Not enough improvement with the 162 to warrant the effort.

Thanks DrMike.
I ran the numbers for the 150 at 2790 and the 162 at 2700. I was very surprised at the similarities. It doesn’t look worth the effort.

My hunting party has on-game experience with 150 and 162 Eldx on deer and elk from 100 to 400 yards. The 150s were out of a 7mm-08, mv 2790, and the 162s from a 7mm Rem Mag, mv 2986. 50% weight retention and 2x expansion, when recovered. Everything died, and right now. In fact, my brother...
I have a great load using the 150 eldx (2790 FPS, little bitty groups) but I keep hearing that the 162 eldx might be a better choice for longer ranges. I load the 162 in a couple of 7mm Rem Mags at 2986 fps, with great on-game performance as well.
So what does QL say about the 162 in the...
Maybe if you get a wild hair and want to try the Hornady 150 gr ELDX...
We’ve kilt elk and deer with the Mighty -08 and this load over the last couple of years. 2790 fps and a screaming BC is potent medicine.

A guy on 24hourcampfire posted about working up this load in his Tikka, with great success. He really spent a lot of time creating the most accurate load for that rifle.
Then he listed the rifle for sale. For a really good deal. So I bought it. Duh.
Let's just say you won't find the recipe...
