Hey shoots_5-
I don’t get in here very often but decided to scroll through and see what everyone is up to. I also reload for the .300 blkout- how did your test go?
I’ll have to look at my loads again- been so long since I touched it all I know is H110, 1680, 110 grain hornady and...
A few years ago, a forum I was (and still am) a member of was sold to a Canadian company who is reportedly anti-firearm. There was some growing pains I remember as they filtered and ***** words they found offensive- like “gun” and “firearm”. I stopped posting there and until recently stopped...
I put a 22/250 into a Boyd’s laminate stock, and documented its process on here if anyone was thinking of changing out the stock. It’s a great rifle and is very accurate.
That’s is (was) a great deal!
Looks like the threads’ pics fell victim to the photo bucket fiasco. I can get pics later...
Many questions :)
Start by getting your case capacity, a seating depth (doesn't have to be the 'most accurate'), and velocity. QL is *blindly guessing* without your real world variable data.
If I understand your question correctly, you are looking for where to enter the weighing factor...
Very cool! Congrats and thanks for the share.
I wanted to get one during their Black Friday sale but by the time the computer booted up, they were sold out. I have their tac 21 chassis- things a tank!!! Wanted an xl for my 204. Maybe next year :)
Think I've posted this on here before, but for the sake of this thread and similarities between our setups-
I had the barrel chopped to 22". After it all came together, I am having hard time deciding what rifle to take for elk this year. This rig is heavy. Much heavier than I'd want if I...
I did something similar sort of and ran into the bullet not fitting/feeding past the chamber ramp. Loaded to AI mag length, which is somehow longer than the action 'well' . Can't feed from the mag so I have a good 90 that I need to single feed. Now I check to see if the bullet can get past...
There's a product called 2x4 workbench that provides you with the four legs and some shelving molds for $50 or so on Amazon. You get the 2x4 wood and plywood (I used a prefabricated butcher block table top from menard's) as big as you need it and build it to the size you want. Very easy to put...
QL's data for its bullets is pretty accurate, though I've found a few to be off by a hundredth or little more. You can adjust the bullet length within the bullet file (save it under a new name) and your QL estimates will be more accurate.
I dig my x16 HS-T. Had it on a sig 716, then 7.62x40, then .260 rem (briefly) and finally on the .308. It shot very well on every caliber. Seeing that you already have two HS's, you'd be right at home with this one.
I make my own reticle card in PowerPoint based on vortex's lrbc. Size it...
I'd look for water and tall brush that provides shade on the prairie. Hard to say what the weather will be like though... Last year it was pretty hot well into November.
I think you are- another limitation of QL (ime) is estimating ball type powders in large quantities. You wouldn't happen to be using ball powder?
It does make sense for the velocity to decrease when you add more capacity to the case but do not add any more powder to it.
There is an excel...
I don't think so. It's milliseconds, and still has a lot of pressure pushing behind it. The shock wave from the explosion is traveling faster than the bullet down the barrel and bouncing from end to end. Find that barrel time node and you may be at 100% burnt or 90%.
I look at powder...
I did something similar a few years ago after taking a good 20 some years off of riding... I was going to GTMO and decided to get a bike for the base. Got a good one with clip in shoes. Met a girl while in school and we went out for a ride one day. I remembered I used to ride wheelies when I...
Magpul rem 700 stock for the .223 (might be swapped with the .308...)
And mod 70 shadow 7mm rem mag:
I tried doing the magazines and quickly realized I better have a pro do it. Colorado Custom look in Denver did them up for me- great people!
Different species of walnut has different tones, I think you are thinking of claro or Peruvian walnut. The walnut stock I got from Boyd's is english or black walnut I think. It's pretty light.
