I use a myweigh 101 and double check it with cheap frankford arsenal that I tare often. Some times I have to tare the myweigh and sometimes it goes the whole batch without needing to be reset.
Could be the scale, the power strip or my magnetic personality.
There is a formula on accurate shooter or 6mmbr that involves the wall thickness...
Simple formula is to measure the outside diameter of a case before loading, load it and measure again.
Subtract the unloaded case from loaded case and you should have your amount of tension.
I have one too- .22 mag from my single six that I traded some 14 years ago. A local guy tried to see if it would fit his, and I cant remember if the smith just never looked at it or there was some other issue, though I'm leaning towards them recommending the pistol and cylinder be sent to ruger...
Kinda wondering why that QL isn't flagging the near SAAMI max like it normally does... RR, is that a modified cartridge? Just asking because the abbreviated ".260 Rem" at the top.
This is with my Lapua case capacity- .260 Remington SAAMI.
Cartridge : .260 Remington
Bullet...
I used about 2.25-2.5 oz of Devcon, but had mixed 4 oz the first time and 3 oz for the rem 700 I did. Surely better to have more mixed up than not having enough, but I'd say if you have anything else needing Devcon, have it ready for when you are done with the action.
I had about 30-45 minutes...
the specs are ;
260 rem
25 inch bbl
54.33 water capacity
125 grain partition
44.5 grain RL17 powder
2.767 COAL off the tip , 0.020 jump yes it's short in the throat
1.194 bbl time
You sure nailed it with that one load. I had to ask about the magnetospeed because my 22-250 shot an...
Well, if the load was worked up to the point where you started seeing pressure signs, this estimate may be closer what you are seeing, and closer to the 1.147 node. Only way to tell is a good chrony reading. This is using my powder profile for .002-.003 neck tension, so it's a little faster...
Cool- I wouldn't trust QL's velocity estimates without calibrating it for chronographed velocity.
As for the short throat, I don't think it matters unless you are into the lands.
Do you know how much neck tension your rounds have? If you use a mandrel, and are close to .001 tension, I'd...
It's a negligible influence on the estimates, although the polygonal rifling has a good influence. I think QL estimates are computed on a .308 4 groove rifling barrel if you don't get into its guts and change things.
I've recently came across some range tests that suggest neck tension has a...
Nope. Just nope with the 129's. Switched to 140 accubonds and am back in the game.
I also checked the deflection of the action and am .001 at 40 in/lbs for the front screw, .000 for the rear on the .260. The 22-250 was .007 at the front screw and .005 at the back. There was a high spot...
Some time ago I understood that these were developed with noslers line of 26,28 and 30 Nosler calibers... Designed for the high velocities they are capable of?
I tried 140gr accubonds and am grouping 1" at 200. Think I'll stick to the 140's since I don't plan on shooting past 500 at any...
I carry a G33 and like the caliber. I reload for it, using a Dillon 550 for the powder drop, seating and crimping. I size the cases In .40, then run them through the .357 die for the shoulder and neck. It's not that difficult as the Internet claims it to be.
I took my stock rcbs stem out to see if that was my problem, and it looks like the stem has enough space for the tip, according to the toothpick-bullet comparison measurement.
