A turkey from the Wyoming Black Hills was the first harvest my son made that required a tag - almost 26 years ago! We decided to make a nostalgia trip back to the same area this year. The country hasn't changed much, and I still know some folks who live there. What has changed significantly is he is now a para and must use a wheelchair. Typical April Wyoming weather can make getting around using any means challenging - snow, rain, mud, wind can all factor in. Even so, he was successful late on the second day! It was a grand experience. In Wyoming, small rifles are legal for turkey. He used a .223 Rem loaded with Nosler 64 gr. BSB bullets. We figured there would be minimal expansion on a turkey and that's how it worked. 207 yards. Bang flop, DRT, pass through. Special time!

Congratulations to your son. Excellent harvest. That is just exciting. No doubt the bird will provide some excellent table fare, but the memories of the shared hunt will last for the remainder of days. I'm proud to know successful people such as those posting here who succeed rather than surrendering to what others classify as disabilities.

Thanks, DrMike! The bird is already smoked, sliced, and packaged up. So good. The shared experience concluded with our words of thanks for the time, place, each other, and the turkey!

Nice! Congratulations to the both of you.
Well done sir.

Fantastic,
Great to hear that your son still has the desire to keep hunting and congratulations on a successful outing, nice looking bird.

Congrats on the bird. Great shot as well! Father and son hunts are the best. Well, daughter and son hunts are just as awesome too

Yes, they are Scotty! My daughter is the ultimate hunting enthusiast, and that makes it so fun :)
