I was actually going to use this as a "barrier blind" self defense round and for the occasional coyote or deer. (I have land owner preference tags).
I use an Accuracy International magazine on a Remington 40X. So I am limited in seating depth. What would you all recommend given a 2.80 inch...
I would compare the VELOCITY of your reloads from 800 feet absl to your Nevada location.
Your rile may like a particular velocity and the colder temperatures may have effected your MV???
lOOK UP THE NORTH FORK. ANY BULLET WEIGHT WILL DO. I SHOT A BUFFALO AT POINT BLANK RANGE IN TWO THOUSAND FIVE WITH THE FOUR HUNDRED AND FOUR FIFTY GRAIN AT TWO THOUSAND FIVE FITY AND TWO THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY FEET PER SECOND. SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH LIGHTER BULLET AND MIDDLE RIBS TO...
MAY I SUGGEST A SERIOUS 350 GRAIN BULLET FOR BIG GAME?
DONT USE THE SPEER. TRY THE THREE HUNDRED SEVENTY GRAIN NORTH FORK INSTEAD. IT IS BONDED SOLID BASE LIKE A TBBC BUT BETTER. (BARNES BORROWED THEIR USE OF GROOVED BEARING SURFACE TO REDUCE COPPER FOULING AND PRESSURE).
I SHOT A BUFFAO AT...
This may not be the right place to ask, but does Nosler have any plans on making a .308 diameter 175 grain Ballistic Tip for versatile .308 match shooters who also want to use the same load for hunting?
The 175 grain BTHP has replaced the 168 grain as the most popular (and mil spec) 600-1000...
Hope it is a 404 case without rebated rim but then it would not fit std bolt face?
I shot alot of necked up 404 x 458 (also known as 460 GA).
Great case to work with. Very versatile!
And to think I re-bored my pre 64 264 Magnum to 7mm Remington! (Original 26 inch stainless barrel).
This...
I just looked at one at the Pro Shop in Bend and had a couple questions the staff could not answer.
1. Is chamber a NATO or Wylde?
2. What kind of rifling?
3. Contour and weight of barrel?
4. Is low profile gas block adjustible lilke LaRue OBR? (I shoot a suppressor so that is somewhat...
Well I made 2905 - 2935 fps from a 16 inch barrel with the CFE223 and a CCI 450 primer in Winchester brass.
this equals Winchester Q3313 and Ranger RA556B FBI load.
2/10 grain difference is all between the two. Will try them both for accuracy next.
Will also try other brands of brass...
You will have very little velocity loss over a 24 inch barrel.
i have used a pre 64 that was rebarreled to 20 inch stainless steel Atkinson barrel since about 1982. Shot hundreds of rounds thorugh it with both improved and std cases. (It is a blown out case with a 25 degree shoulder). Most...
Check your rings and bases?.
I have used two of them since about 1993.
One on a suppressed 22 LR and the other on a long range AR15 or FNLAR w M80 ball. The stadia line circles for 556 worked well with 75 grain match ammo and but the 22 LR took some doing to figure out how to sight it in so...
I also use the CCI450 magnum primer with CFE23. It gave much more consistant results with the 64 grain Nosler bonded solid base than a WSR primer which showed sudden increase in pressure/velocity.
You did not say if you were shooitng a NATO or Remington chamber. I was able to exceed maximum...
I would appreciate hearing from precision reloaders with long range or bench rest experience.
I have not used outside neck turning tools before, or straightened loaded ctgs for run out.
What tools do you use and recommend?
I will be using them on WW brass, once fired, .223 Remington for...
What kind of alloy is the Barnes made from?
It isnt gilding metal (95/5 copper/zinc)?
This is what usually happens to the medium and large bore TSX (375 and up, anyway). The smaller calibers seem to hold together better.
Not much frontal area there after the X petals blow off.
this is...
Update on QL data. Bushmaster 16 inch barrel. Three chrono sessions at 75 degrees, 55 degrees and 40 degrees. 40 - 70 fps velocity loss with reference ammo at 40 degrees.
I tried H335 which topped out at 2700 fps.
W748 2800 fps and very accurate. (circa 1 inch w 5 shot groups three times)...
I have about 100 rounds of polished once fired 257 weatherby brass you can have for fifty cents each. I will have to count them to make sure. PM if interested.
