Old, used, cracked neck.........cheap? NOW 300 SAUM brass

Probably more interesting to me than anyone else on the planet but I'm ok with that. I have memories back to when I could first read and driving my poor ol Dad insane by jumping up and down every time I saw a magazine with something on the 375 H&H and the type of hunts that were always included...

Old, used, cracked neck.........cheap? NOW 300 SAUM brass

Always the "big bore" lover/fanatic and regardless how much I love this new 350JR......I got this THING in my head about building a 1.8 inch case (Indiana legal) .375 bore rifle. The trajectory queens (my name for those worrying about 2 inches of drop at 300 yards.......that we hardly ever...

Old, used, cracked neck.........cheap? NOW 300 SAUM brass

Project brass. Looking for a few or 10 or 20 used,( split neck, almost wore out since they wont be fired is dandy since cutting anyway,) 375 Remington Ultra mag brass. Aint the wildcatting chit fun? AND ADDICTIVE!!!!!!!!!!? I've had so much fun with the 350JR that a 375JR wont get out of my...

Did a little "field testing" with the 350JR tonight.

This is one of the reason's I'm particularly happy with the results. 80 yards dont seem like much.....till hunting in this! Makes it look worse than it is but you get the idea. Instead of being IN this as expected, they were on the other side in the field  . Just sharing. God Bless Steve

    Deer hunt with Dad

The first deer hunter in my family, even though the youngest of the youngest brother.......I cant tell you HOW MUCH I would have given to take dad......just once. An avid wingshooter some of my most precious memories are those of watching five quail drop from his 1953 Wingmaster when flushed...

Did a little "field testing" with the 350JR tonight.

That top deer had me a little stumped field dressing her. With a classic "1/3 up the body behind the front leg" hold and shot.......it had me scratching my head to find the heart with the top 1/4 blown off and the remainder split half way down. In interior entrance wound in the ribcage is also...

Did a little "field testing" with the 350JR tonight.

200 grain Hornady "field test" on real targets  No bullets recovered. 75-80 yards......again. This time shooting through the woods through all kinds of treelimbs and brush. Once again they DID NOT come where I expected down in the creekbottom but instead, clear out in the open in the...

180gr Speer Hot Core......Results from a freak shot.

All this time it was sitting about 2 feet from my head on my PC tower. sheesh. 150.3 grains retained after providing all the havoc it played with that shoulder NOT too shabby, IMO, for a "cheap" bullet but I'm hardly experienced on big game bullet recovery weight averages. I still want to...

180gr Speer Hot Core......Results from a freak shot.

2007 was the first year we could hunt with rifles......as long as they fit the caliber and brass size regulations of the year. This year max length of the casing went from 1.625 to 1.8 inchs. .357 min bore. Some complain but it was the founding reason I came up witht he 350JR so ....cant say...

180gr Speer Hot Core......Results from a freak shot.

Hesitant to post this. New here and the shot still has ME scratching my head a bit so understandably I'll face some possible ridicule. For background, this is my 90th deer and I owned and operated a deer processing shop several years and have processed 3500-4000 whietail. FWIW. I've never...

    Bushnell 6500? Feedback?

Talk to me on that. Ive heard some claim the same dislikes. 3.7 oz heavier, a bit bulkier, the 50mm versions do look a LITTLE "off" on a short sporter. On a full blown varminter they look fine but not sure how much "looks" counts to others. Im wierd. lol I am leaning towards the same scope as...

    Bushnell 6500? Feedback?

Opticsplanet has that 42mm obj version for 480 in a "demo". Be a bit before I buy. Xmas and all that. Wish I could see a 42mm and the 50mm side by side. Im sure either would be fine though. I see the 42mm on sale fairly regularly. It IS curious to me why the 50mm version is NOT available with...

    Bushnell 6500? Feedback?

Cant come much more highly recommended than that........IMHO. Thanks guys. Living in BFE Indiana......I cant find decent scopes to see unless I order one. Your feedback is appreciated. Looks to be a good one for my uses. God Bless Steve

    Bushnell 6500? Feedback?

2013 thoughts, or at least at this point in time, include upgrading the 350JR with a 14 twist Shilen SS barrel.....just cause. No real reason other than I want one for probably the last rifle Ill ever hunt big game with. BUUUUUUT when it comes to scopes, so much is thrown out there on "this is...

    Dan's 2012 Buck

Wow! someday I hope to find something of that size. Just once and Id be happy. Content with what I take but there is always that "need" for a real wall hanger. Hopeto be only needing to work part time for 2013 and forward. If so, Ill have more time to look and find a place to hunt that has...

The 350JR is "four for four" ....for opening day.

It's been so much fun, I tell ya. I've had a few local "experts" look down their noses at this buck and some flat ask me why anyone would want to shoot something "that size". I get a chuckle out of them. Knowing that they probably wouldnt understand why anyone would make a round either....I am...
