Did a little "field testing" with the 350JR tonight.

200 grain Hornady "field test" on real targets  No bullets recovered.

75-80 yards......again. This time shooting through the woods through all kinds of treelimbs and brush. Once again they DID NOT come where I expected down in the creekbottom but instead, clear out in the open in the plowed field where I walked in. Arggh.

Both double lung, one double lung and heart.
One staggered (still amazes me) about 60 yards before crashing the other was a classic "bang flop".

I apologize for the horrible photos. It was getting dark and my cell phone was the only camera on me.

Both tip the scales dressed out between 120-130.

The 350JR is now 6 for 6 in 11 days between me and my buddy Jim.

Rib cage shot is an entrance hole.

God Bless
Steve

I had the same results with the 200gr Hornady's out of the 348. Massive wound channel and blood trail, yet the buck made it 60-70 yards before piling up.

Great shooting by the way.

That top deer had me a little stumped field dressing her.

With a classic "1/3 up the body behind the front leg" hold and shot.......it had me scratching my head to find the heart with the top 1/4 blown off and the remainder split half way down. In interior entrance wound in the ribcage is also her.

Bang flop.......for sure! Never to old to learn it seems!

PS......six tags to go ( 7 if I use the ML).

This is one of the reason's I'm particularly happy with the results.

80 yards dont seem like much.....till hunting in this! Makes it look worse than it is but you get the idea. Instead of being IN this as expected, they were on the other side in the field  .

Just sharing.

Good stuff to share. The photos add a lot to your words, and it's always good to learn from other hunters. I was fascinated by your whole cartridge/rifle development to come up with a cartridge that complies with the law of the land, and also gives you the kind of thump you wanted in a deer rifle that works for you.

Very impressive results! You are now reaping the rewards of that rather inspired effort to shorten up things and come up with your 350JR.

I could see that Thumper Rifle working very well for black bear and hogs as well. Or pretty much any North American big game at reasonable ranges.

Congrats! Guy
