I hate to say it but that data is only marginally helpful. What about all the great Nosler bullets that we'd actually use? What about hunting bullets? And why such a limited powder selection? IMR 7977 is virtually unobtainable. A H1000 load would be helpful.
There have been many posters who have tried to explain why Nosler bullets are nowhere to be found. We will probably never know the truth, but you've got to wonder how Hornady has had little trouble meeting the market demand with their bullets and ammo. Hornady products are popping up everywhere...
I've been interested in a Ruger/Marlin 1895SBL since their release. I have a really accurate JM series 1895SBL but still wanted one of the new rifles. I stopped in at my LGS again and inquired about the rifle. I was told, " I only get a few of them and I sell them all to the highest bidder"...
Ahahahahahahaahaha
I've been out for 3 years. The BEST part of retirement is having unlimited time to spend with my 3 grandsons. They spend more time here than they do at home. LOL Not many people get to know their grandchildren like I do.
This may help:
Hornady advertises their 325gr FTX load from a 24” sporting length barrels to have velocities that average 1820fps, around 1750fps in 22” sporters and 1650fps in the 18.5" Guide Gun.
I'd be curious to know what would make a .308win a better buffalo cartridge than a 300win-mag or a 338mag. I shot a buffalo right in the crease with a 260gr Partition from a 375Ruger and he didn't even flinch. A second 260gr in the crease, but from the opposite side, made him shudder a bit. The...
I've been able to get several bullets to shoot around the 1" mark at 100yds from my 1895SBL. However, the Swift 350gr A-Frame is the stand-alone winner in accuracy from my rifle.
IMO target cameras are the only practical way you can see bullet holes in paper at 1,000yds. I have a 60x Vortex scope and when the light conditions are bad I can't make out the holes at 400yds.
A telescope would work but who wants to lug that around.
I had a front loader that agitates by gravity. The machine worked great, but my wife wanted a top loader. I bit the bullet and bought a high-end Samsung top loader that does not have a central agitator. What a mistake. The machine uses so little water that the clothes on top remain dry for a...
That's a pretty good deal. But if you want some Hornady factory 1st bullets for plinking or hunting here is another good deal

2,300 fps with a 300gr sure is moving! Lately, I've been fooling around with Hornady's 250 MonoFlex bullet. Using the max Barnes load (for their 250 mono) I get 2,330 fps from my 1895SBL. It's fairly flat and very accurate but faster would be nicer. LOL
IMO there are 3 reasons that book loads vary so much:
1. 45-70 brass varies in case capacity quite a bit depending on the manufacturer
2. Barrel length makes a big difference in velocity output
3. Pressure thresholds vary depending on which lawyer is overseeing the data - personally, I think...
^^^^^^ Two interesting things from that post ^^^^^^^
1. The record group was fired with off-the-shelf Hornady bullets which many shooters claim to be less accurate than Berger bullets.
2. Best accuracy was noted to be between 30-50 rounds. I'm such a clean freak that very few of my rifles ever...
