Something is off. Their 6-24 has 26.7 mil of elevation. The 3-12 probably is about the same. If your base has 20 MOA cant, you should have at least 20 mil available to you.
With 155 grain Scenar at 2925 fps, I have to dial 29 MOA to get to 1 K with my 308. The bullet will be below mach at around 1,200 yards. The 168 is even worst. At 1k my come up is 37 MOA and the bullet will be below mach by the time it passed the 1050 mark. This is at 2630 fps velocity. The...
You don't really need barrel that long. The 6.5-47 is very efficient. My friend Frank's rifle has 26" Hart 8 twist. It can easily push the 130 grain at over 2900 fps. The Krieger on my rifle is a bit on a slow side. I can only manage about 2850 fps.
Here's the 25 shot group at 1000 yards. My...
Some HP bullet really need trimming bad, especially the SMK's
Here's the picture of a 300 SMK before and after trimming. Uniforming the meplat will eliminate bullet vertical dispersion at long range.
What kind of proof do they have that this is Jim's rifle. I tell you what if he sells his 338 Winchester Mauser that he personally built, I will buy it for $1,200.00. :(
BF, What's kind of velocity you're getting with 75 V-Max or 80 grain Bergers. If I can get 3300 with 87 V-Max, I will be one happy camper. My 6MM Remmy is deadly at that velocity but with 43 grains of IMR 4350.
Guy, Not sure if the stagger mag will feed properly but I know the single stack does.
BeeTee, Case is readily available from both Lapua and Norma. Remington too at one time was making cases for 6BR.
I choose barrel with 8.5 twist so that I can feed it with lighter bullet like the 87 grain V-Max for varminting. IMO, it's an ideal cartridge for all around use.
I've been playing with this cartridge on paper since my rifle is not here yet. The ballistic performance of this diminutive cartridge is very impressive. At 1000 yards, the 6BR loaded with 105 Berger VLD or the Hornady A-Max, at 2900 fps, will outshoot the 308 loaded with 175 grain SMK. It will...
Scotty, As much as I like the Berger Match VLD, the 105 A-Max is responsible for establishing several world record, both in 600 yards and 1000 yards.

The smith told me that it will be here any minute now. I have all the component to start load development. Took measurement today.
Bullet:
105 grain - 6MM Berger Target Match VLD
OAL: 1.221"
Diameter: .243"
Weight: 104.9 grain
G7 BC: .251
105 Grain - 6MM Hornady A-Max
OAL: 1.228"...
Thanks Guys.
The 6.5-47 Lapua performed admirably. I have to be mentally prepared when shooting against these crowd. It can be quite intimidating when you heard an announcement that someone almost cleaned a target while you are waiting for your turn.
Here's the areal view of the Desert...
Man, It's really hard to win at the Desert Marksman 1K shoot. We're suppose to shoot last week but because of bad weather, we postponed it until today. I borrowed the 6.5-47 Lapua from the wifey since she can't make it to the shoot today. I planned on using my 308 at first but since my wife is...
