I've been playing with this cartridge on paper since my rifle is not here yet. The ballistic performance of this diminutive cartridge is very impressive. At 1000 yards, the 6BR loaded with 105 Berger VLD or the Hornady A-Max, at 2900 fps, will outshoot the 308 loaded with 175 grain SMK. It will do it with only 30 grains of powder. Two world record both in 1000 yards NBRSA and 600 yards was established by this cartridge. In both instances, the 105 A-Max was the bullet of choice. I will try both Berger VLD and Hornady A-Max when the time comes. I will also try both Varget and H4895 powder. We'll see.

Here's the side by side comparison with other cartridge.

For sure, it has a lot going for it. When are you anticipating your rifle, Rommel?

No word yet from the smith DrMike. I know it will be here any minute now. I have everything but the rifle. :(

And that is when life gets hard. Hang in there, man. We'll be hearing great reports from you momentarily.

I'd been shooting one for about three years and I'm amazed every time I shoot it. The furthest I'v shoot it was a rock at 1100 yards its amazing what 30 grains of powder will do.Desert Fox you might give RL15 a try with those 105s I like varget with the 80 gr berger fb varmit and 75 gr vmax both scary accurate. Your going to love this little guy even more when you pull the trigger for the first time.

It looks very cool and really has alot of performance for such a small output of powder. I know Joel really digs his and has another one coming pretty quick.

Thanks for posting! I've considered the 6BR for quite some time now (would actually make a nice rifle/cartridge combo for my daughter). Case availability has been question of mine. I'm not into reforming cases. BT

It is very interesting - and a guy can learn a lot just poking around the web site: 6mmBR.com

BeeTee, Case is readily available from both Lapua and Norma. Remington too at one time was making cases for 6BR.

I choose barrel with 8.5 twist so that I can feed it with lighter bullet like the 87 grain V-Max for varminting. IMO, it's an ideal cartridge for all around use.

Owned one for a couple of years, if you could get them to feed reliably out of a magazine i think you would see a few being used a prs matches. Excellent in all aspects except the feeding issue.

Yeah, mine has been at the gunsmiths for 3 months waiting for a PT&G bolt to show up  . This one is built on a Lawton action and the gunsmith (I will give him credit) did not like the tolerances, so ordered a bolt from PT&G to replace it. It is ready to go except for the final head-spacing and test firing once the bolt gets there. F-class season starts the middle of April and I haven't been able to start load work yet :x . I may have to use the 6.5X47 for a bit this spring.

I'm sure the 6BR would make a great p-dog round with lighter bullets, but I doubt mine will see much time on the prairie due to the number of bullets that go through it on a regular basis just shooting f-class. Even in a light sporter rifle there will be very little recoil and if you have a barrel with a 8-9 twist rate, the heavy bullets will make a good deer/yote rifle for short to medium ranges.

My smith and I tried it using AICS mag for 308 and it seems like the rifle feed with no issue.

That looks pretty good - a nice straight feed.

How does the 6mmBR feed from a standard Remington magazine?

I could see a fast-twist 6mmBR barrel replacing the .308 barrel on my Green Machine someday.

DF a 1/8 twist shoots 80 gr bergers and 75 gr vmax extremely well so your 8.5 should have no problem with your 87gr vmax.

BF, What's kind of velocity you're getting with 75 V-Max or 80 grain Bergers. If I can get 3300 with 87 V-Max, I will be one happy camper. My 6MM Remmy is deadly at that velocity but with 43 grains of IMR 4350.

Guy, Not sure if the stagger mag will feed properly but I know the single stack does.
