I have used it with 180's in the 06, and they did well. It will certainly work for the rest, however in my liking, a tad fast for all of the rest minus the 8 mm. In which the 160 would be a tad slow. But that not saying the 160 wouldn't perform well enough in all.
I seen that break Mike, and was going to post as well, but as usual, I got sidetracked. It's good to see what we been asking for months now, get to the Hill. I doubt if anything will get done, but we can hope. Then again, when it comes to this Admin., answers and halting such is unlikely. I...
"It's just a ten-day plains game hunt,"
And just a dream for me, heck I could live 6-7 day hunt as of now.
I wish you all the success and fun to come with the 10 day hunt Guy!
I have used both Harris and Caldwell's. I believe the Harris to be more solid or steady of the two. However, depending on use, I like the Caldwell tilt and pan model. Not quite as steady as the Harris for me, but is also useful in some shooting.
Nobody told me practice was strictly for paper, only to practice well before the hunting. Evey shot, paper or game is a practice of funamentals. Using the big .375 for PD's and then deer or other game makes sense for honing skills with said rifle.
My go to 06 load is the 180 gr NPT ahead of H-4350. I won't give the load, because I'm shooting a custom chamber with a longer throat in a single shot. But to be honest, a 100 fps either way of normal, isn't going to be big deal at normal distance's imo.
You ain't got no worries at PBR Scotty. And either would work for me out to 300 yds. ymmv
A wee bit tighter may be desirable, but I likely wouldn't shoot beyond 300 anyhow. But I think you tighten them up, as sure as I'm confident the rifle is capable as you.
