Caught me in a moment of weakness with some cash burning a hole in my wallet... Doggone it. Then again, I just can't be unhappy about buying a brand new .30-06 Rem 700 CDL.

And next to the veteran .25-06 700 CDL:

Seems a nice match to the quarter bore, but with heavier bullets. Will be looking for a good scope for it, but likely to be wearing an older 2-7x Redfield I've got on hand, for now. I've always liked the slimmer stock of the CDL, it just handles real well for me.

Regards, Guy

Very nice Guy, love those CDL's. Have you thought about what loads you will try in it? That is a pretty nice matched pair, quite versatile too. A nice 6x36 or 6x42 Leupold would be just about perfect on there :)

I'll first try my tried & true 165 Nosler/H4350 combo. A less than max load, it churns up only 2750 fps from the well-worn 21" barrel on my old Model of 1917 rifle, but I'd figure it's good for maybe 100 fps faster via the new 24" Remington barrel. We'll see.

After that, 180's & Ramshot Hunter. That's a slick combination!

I've got plenty of .30 cal bullets on hand to use. Mostly Partitions & Ballistic Tips. Have some heavies on hand too, 200's & 220's, but I doubt I'll use those much.

Yeah - I'm thinking the 6x with the 36mm obj and long range dots may well be the scope of choice. The .25-06 has a 6x, 42mm obj Leupold. It's a dandy scope!

Those are some good combinatons to try, it would be interesting to see how fast those 220's would go in a new 24" barrel or any other load you have worked with in your old gun for that matter. I really do like the Leupold 6x36 scope having the dots would be even better, light and tough for sure.

The CDL is assuredly a handsome rifle. That is great, Guy. Congratulations.

Guy,
Nice rifle.
Like your scope choice also.
The two side by side make a nice picture.
Congrats!

Congratulations Guy, the CDL is a great rifle & looks classy  I have found mine to be very dependable!

Blessings,
Dan
