I read this article and thought you guys may like to read this. Being as there is always a question about velocity and barrel length. Also notice how much the crown affects accuracy.
Dan I thought it was the other way around but that post was about 3-4 months ago abd have thought about reloading info...say non stop since then. Vertical stringing can also be related to a bedding issue.
Love my 270! Even though I'm head over heels with the rum right now I just finished up a new load with the 140 ab and magpro. As well as fine tuning the 150 ablr. Both of these loads are shooting about .5 moa and as constantly add I can shoot them. In fact the other day I shoot the 140 @300...
Just delt with an issue similar to this on my 270. Shifting groups and inconsistent grouping. Found out the leupild ring and base set was causing this. I switched to Talley one piece ring and base and problem solved. This is the 3 rd problem I have had with leupold ring sets. Will no longer be...
They are commonly stocked here in Colorado. I would look closely at the vortex match rings or the Talley one piece base and ring set. You can't go wrong with the pst scopes. They used to be top of the line for the vortex brand until they introduced the razor and razor hd. Now this year they...
I would seat the bullet further out by .005" &.010"as well add in by the same amounts and see where the group starts to tighten up. I would bet it tightens up the further out you go. If you can and are not limited by magazine length
Thanks guys. I was looking through the box and there were 2 different loads shot using Barnes 110 gr bullets chronograph speeds and target grouping. According to weatherby they have made some changes to the vanguard line. Maybe that is why they now have targets?.? But I do know the trigger...
That's funny. Cuz apparently vortex has been the only brand of scope that's 1" tube had held up to the 50bmg. I'm not saying one is better than the other. I just know from my own experiance that no other company offers what vortex does for the money. Even leupold.
The story... my neighbor had a 257 bee that was.brought in for random bolt sticking and zero accuracy. ( somewhere in the range of 20"@100). Upon further inspection find the action to be cracked where the barrel threads in. Contacted weatherby on this issue because it was a brand new rifle at...
I know someone selling a brand new 257 weatherbe vanguard.brand New from the factory. It has their new trigger abd a synthetic stock. their factory accuracy papers have this rifle shooting .5" groups. What are your guys thoughts on these rifles and caliber.
I know vortex tests all their scores to 500 Gs. Also they have a video of their crossfire line mounted in a 50 Barret and it held up flawlessly to 500 rounds of fire. My test was not on a Barrett but I can say the scope was fat beyond abused and still shot like new.
Depends what magnification you like. I have a viper hs-lr 4-16 x 44. It's in first focal plane on my 270 win. I really like how the hold over hash marks stay consistent over all magnifications. Downfall is ffp is normally about 150.00 bucks more. Second focal plane is what most scopes fall...
Gotta love the rum! One of my favorite cartridges! They tend to shoot anything and everything. My current one I honestly think I could load sand and rocks and it would shoot moa or better
Vortex all the way. You could get a viper hs-lr 4-16 x44 30mm tube for around 500. Our even a viper pst in that same magnification in first focal plane for about 800.00. I have recently gone through a scope phase. The vortex scopes are every bit add clear as any leupold or nikon and the higher...
Under 3000 = great results. I shot a yote with a125 BT out of my 300 rum at 200 yards and the bullet more or less was a varmit bullet. No exit. But fragmented for days.
