    Looking for a Quickload tutorial...

That is good news. Thought about picking up some RL 33 to try as well, but am concerned about temperature sensitivity. I will hold off on that until I see if I am happy with either H1000 or Retumbo.

    New Barrel?

Just got educated a bit more. The thin metal thing is real in relation to not having enough room to safely recut the threads. Learn something new every day. With no personal attachment, I think you have a blank slate to work with. Cost of 700.00 to make a magnum of your choice with a nice...

    New Barrel?

What about scoping the bore just to see if there is an easy answer? My old 7 rem mag ABolt likes to foul badly and then it acts like you are describing. It took much effort to get back to a clean bore and takes regular cleaning to keep up with it. When it is clean, it shoots gnat nuts off...

    Done with the Jarrett

And with a tight group like that, I think P-Dogs would be shaking in their shoes... Nice shooting

    Looking for a Quickload tutorial...

I finally invested in QuickLoad and have been playing with it way too much. I have figured out how to edit the powder lists, bullet lists, and cartridge lists so far. I have also figured out how to adjust weighting factor, powder Ba to help match predictions to actual findings. Working on...

Hope this isn't too inappropriate, but Canadians don't scream "Racism!" like some people of other nationalities.

    Paired 30-06 Rifles

    Absolutely beautiful rifle. Beautiful.

    It does exist.

I have picked up quite a bit of Hornady brass to work with, and agree that it is on par with Win and RP. But I have a couple of chamberings that they do not make brass for. Not an emergency by any means, but someday I hope to pick up a few bags of new brass to have on hand for those rifles.

    It does exist.

Excellent score. I have found most powders are available around here with a little patience. I scored 2# Varget, 2# RL-19, and 8# Retumbo this month. Should be stocked for quite a while. Had only intended on 4# of Retumbo, but by the time I got to the store they were out of 1# cans. Now if...

    Projects for a cold winter

Here is the ATACS pattern after reassembly. Used a dark tan base coat on this one. Plan to use a white base coat on the 7-300 when it is done for more of a snow camo look.

    Projects for a cold winter

And thanks for the complements guys. I have a blast doing them, even if I haven't perfected the process yet. It is just one more way to involve myself with my shooting hobby. And if you really screw up, just strip the paint off and start over.

    Projects for a cold winter

I have 3 rifles dipped like this and the finish is pretty tough. Through a couple of hunting seasons I don't see much wear on any of them, but I am pretty careful with my firearms compared to some. The matte clearcoat finishes I have used seems to have an orange peel like finish and it is not...

    Projects for a cold winter

All finished. And I dipped another stock in ATACS camo pattern since I had everything set up.

    Projects for a cold winter

Dr. Mike, if you have a desire to try this on your own, this is a black/silver marble pattern with camo pink base coat instead of silver base coat. The process takes a bit of practice and some frustration on occasion, but watching the smile on my wife's face makes it worth it. I think your...

The scope is drying and then clear coat everything.

    Projects for a cold winter

Today is a good day to inhale paint fumes. Hydro-dipping the stock and scope for my wife's new rifle. Can't wait for the reamers to get here. Guess I just have to stare at the new barrels and wait. I am very excited to play with the 7-300 when it is done and I hope the rebarrel on the...

    Projects for a cold winter

After a beautiful fall filled with good hunting, and a perfect holiday season, winter has finally struck with subzero temps and a nice steady northwest breeze. Fortunately, I have plenty of projects to accomplish before the thaw. I picked up another 700 ADL in 243 Win. Am in the process of...

    Let the fun begin.

One last story. I had the pleasure of being one of the 1263 hunters that got inspected at the multi-state, multi-organization game check stop in White Lake, SD on Interstate 90. Wow. What a setup. There were officers from Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Federal Department of Wildlife, and...

    IMR-4955

With all of these new powders, I am looking forward to new updates to all of the reloading guides. I have played a bit with 4451, and 7977. So far I like them. The 7977 runs real nice in my 7 rem mag.

    Let the fun begin.

Thank DR Mike. I figured people would enjoy the story of the hunt. But as you know, there is a books worth of material that gets left out. I shared some of the videos we took while scouting with my wife and she got to see the true side of hunting. The goofy moments, the hard work, the...
