Yes...federal is about the softest ammo out there and seeing the slightest hint of ejector marks wouldn't scare me. Also being it was virgin brass its possible it did a little more chamber "fireforming" and moved back towards your bolt face a little more aggressively.
It usually doesn't take...
Although most of us reload the good thing about the 3006 is no matter where you are.....you can get a box of 3006 ammo.
Brass is pretty much as easy to find too.
I'd agree with everything you guys have said. It would be my experience that changes in case capacity over multiple firings would be extremely minimal. I would say a fussy shooter would be better off addressing annealing and getting case neck tension back uniform than worrying about case...
I've got a friend whos done very well in the trucking business. He and his wife have gone on a ton of guided hunts over the years. Their two favorite rifles are 270 wby's from rifles Inc. Both guns absolutely love the 150 hornady and they have never lost an animal over bullet...
The website says it will not corrode and it will not "gum up" actions. That said I've been watching for some real life testimonials. I use it in my bar 308 and have not had any trouble. But I haven't used it a ton...just after hunting season. I'm not sure how the gas ports work so as a...
Got the brass. Spot checked wt consistancy....seems fine...most is +/- 1 grain.
Concentricity after truing necks w/m-mandrel avg's about 3-4 thou.
Cant tell neck thickness till the mouth is chamferred but seems OK.
They do punch the flash hole but it doesn't have the ragged burrs I usually see...
I've heard of people doing it but a very nice chamfering job will help and hopefully the necks aren't overhardened from multiple firings. Do you have another die of the same caliber sitting around? Ie I could expand the necks on my 3030,308,3006,300 win mag, 300wby.....any of them by using my...
Fwiw years ago I had a boss equipped 270 bar.
The first time to the range I set it for their guessed sweetspot for 140 grainers.
To my surprise it shot all bullet wts to the same tiny point of impact. You could throw a 130,140,150 in the magazine and shoot a sub moa group. This was before they...
Shooters proshop....
I guess I'll be the guinna pig....just ordered 200 308 brass at $36.95/100!
Dang by the time I ordered they were out of 200 partitions...that was a deal.
If you order more than $50 and enter "ship14" in the codes you get free shipping.
The 2506 is alot like the 7 mag in the reloading data dept......there is alot of weanie data out there.
When looking at 115-120 loads for instance its not unusual to see 4 grains different among data w/re22 powder.
If you want to post some offending loads I or others can run it past quickload...
I have a 270 that likes accubonds AND interlocks.....but in my buddies rifle it rejected the a b's and bt's and doted on interlocks. Funny how that works sometimes. They're all great performers on deer.
Re the ctbt's and pressure I swear in some guns the coated bullets act slipperier and are...
Great thread...played w/the powder burn rate factor a little....ez and harmless.
Then I compared some of my successful loads to the guys "node chart"....some came out close.
Not sure I buy a universal node chart w/all the differences in rifles....but I'm willing to keep watching and pondering...
I lost alot of my 30378 data in a computer crash years ago. I have a Sako. I do remember in my gun (26") factory ammo ran 3290 fps. In my gun I wouldn't want to push 180s any faster than you are. Wby/Norma brass is soft and if you get a little speedy for your gun ....especially the...
If the velocity on the chrono is pretty close I also play w/case length or volume. In cases like my tikkas or weatherby rifles that have freebore I don't mind doing that and its a valid way of making the compensation. But some times you run into a powder that inexplainably is quite mild...
If you go over to ramshot powders and check their data the have the etip along w/a great mix ofother bullets. In general their data says they hit Max pressure w/the tip about 1.5-2 grains under other 130 bullets....also about 100 fps slower. If it were me working up I'd probably be subbing 140...
The scout might not have the "cool factor" but I really like it. Nice fit and finish. Decent trigger.
The load I settled on for mine is 37 grains varget under blem 160 accubonds. (708) They come out at 2300 fps.
My final load testing at 200 had 12 shots covered by a dollar bill that was folded...
