Fwiw...on some forums people are thinking lvr and cfe223 are twins. Perhaps slightly different coatings. Cfe is kinda hard to find around here and I'm getting low.
I checked the wt/volume of the two powders and it was identical.
I thought I might get lucky and find its pretty much the same so...
I bang around the weatherby calibers pretty good. 300 to 340.......7mm wby down to 270. I've turned 7mm rem mag to both 257 and 270 wby.
I'm not sure a 7mm bullet would fit the freebore of a 270.....but like mentioned above...make DARN sure you mark your new ammo well.
Also changing things...
I have a search saved to favorites that looks at overrun and blem offerings and usually check it daily.
My goal is at least 6 items per order to keep shipping at $2 or less per item.
On a scale of 1 to 10. With 10 being most addicted....where does that put me....maybe a 8? Lol
My new "sexy" is a used marlin 3030 that's driving tacks at 100yds. Got a 2-7 ballistic plex on it and want to stretch it to 200-300 just for giggles.
Everyone else is playing w/lazer beam calibers. I must be getting old.....I'm as exciting as an old pair of shoes!
Seems like alot of internet chatter is "thinking" lever powder is a twin to cfe223. Perhaps some slightly different coatings.
I've got some of both on hand...it looks the same, smells the same, and a dropped charge out of my rcbs dispenser weighs exactly the same ...right to a 10th of a grain...
Fotis...that benchtop of yours is in the running with mine for the "it doesn't look good but I know where everything is" award! Lol! You're not quite to my level...but you show potential!
I love the cut off powder cans and admit to having the "things" just like em!
What works.....works lol!
I've got a little cva scout rifle. Its a break open single shot 7mm08. It was a real PROBLEM child till I realized I had to run loads about 45k pressure to keep it from going vertical.
Now it does groups like you have with the 160 ab.
Its a hoot to shoot and carry and with the BC of the 160...
I have a few hornady dies and Lyman m dies on my bench. Either the eliptical expander in the hornady or the mandrel in the m die are perfect for uniforming virgin necks. If i would get a "loose feedback" I would set the case aside for a hit w/a lee collet die. From there its over the the 5...
Some of the best groups Ive shot are on misty days...not sure why.
Re your sight in...dial your gun about 1" high at 100.
You will have virtual perfect zero at 50-75 yds......AND you'll only be about 2" low at 200 yds.
It just plain gives you point blank behind the shoulder shots to 200 yds.
Recoil is always subjective. And different guns seem to have more or less with the same loads.
Do a google search on "recoil calculators" and you'll find lots of sites.
If nothing else you can enter a past load you've used and get a figure..then the new load and see how much you've reduced...
Yikes...no brake on the 4570...that's gotta rock n roll. I wear peltor muffs when shooting or hunting w/brakes. You can hear great but they shut off at ignition. My 7-30 is braked too...wish it wasn't.
You're gonna love that 44....inexpensive to shoot and lethal for most anything.
Btw...that is a great 50 yd group...I've got a cheap 3 moa red dot on my 357....it shoots groups like that at 50.....I always say they land "inside" what I can cover w/the dot....its a blast to shoot for sure and I bought a lee turret press and some Berry's plated bullets to feed it! If you...
Well...I think all 4570 contenders have a built in muzzle brake...at least mine does.
AND the reload data is super flexible for the casing....all the way from "trap door" data to naughty stuff.
Its a little naughtier than a ruger redhawk 44 mag I used to have but not by much.
Being from...
Contender pidtols are a blast.
I've got a 357 mag, 7-30waters, 4570, and 3030 barrels.
Haven't fired the 3030 yet but the others are ALL tac drivers.
And...you get so much more speed out of the longer enclosed barrel vrs a revolver.
My 357 contender is going faster at 100 yds than the muzzle...
Dr mike....did you get the feeling from talking to those sources that superformance would be dangerous to use outside their data....or that it wouldnt provide extra speed?
I was reading up on it elsewhere a while back and someone posted that they had a fair number of cartridges listed in their...
I usually tap the bottom of my cases w/a lee powder dipper..like a mini plastic hammer. Sometimes there's moisture in air compressor air...not sure I'd like that.
If they don't dislodge....load and shoot away.
I realize the bigger bullets w/higher BC stay in the air better.
I'm not sure what the OP wanted when he described "high performance" but speed seemed to be a component.
Where I sit for deer hunting my Max clear shot is about 350 yds. Its a logging road...by the time you see deer crossing you...
