In my part of Wis deer hunting is done close range and often in Brushy-twiggy quarters. I have no proof but tend to avoid plastic tipped bullets of any brand. Somehow I imagine twigs deflecting and opening plastic tipped bullets easier. I have no problem loading 150 grain lead tipped bullets...
Tikka's are probably the best bang for the buck of any gun out there.
I've got a "wallet group" from a tikka 300 win mag...its 5 shots at 300 yds that measures .9".
It was shot w/ nosler 180 bt blems by the way.
When quickload looks at things it doesnt take freebore into account......so....if there is freebore those loads should be quite mild. I believe the secret to the problem is lurking "within"!
A quick look at quickload seems to be very close to those velocities and seems to think they might be running in the 58-64k pressure range. It seems weird that you are getting that much high pressure feedback.
I might tend to look at how much freebore the chamber has and possibly how fouled the...
I never thought of stabilization as a factor. My "thinking" was to use short for caliber jacketed bullets because they "might" be less sticky and more consistant w/velocity.
I guess that thinking possibly solved a problem purely by luck.
I did have really good luck w/the 110 v Max. I also had...
Try the redding/imperial dry lube kit w/ ceramic balls. I did yrs ago and never looked back. No lube to clean up and the coating inside the neck makes seating bullets easier w/less run out.
It will take you 2-3 minutes to do 24 cases...Max.
I've played with it in a bunch of calibers....its fun...puts a smile on everyone's face.
It can also be used to download bullets to check for expansion at low impact speeds.
Be prepared to crank your scope up about 8" at 100 yds.....maybe even a hair more.
Bullets like the 110 vmax are awesome...
I'll swim against the tide and say that seating deeper may cause pressure to go up...or down depending on the throat of the rifle. In my book seating deeper w/a short or normal throat will make pressure go down. A generous throat can actually raise pressure by seating deeper. Either way it...
Here's the really ez way to do it......get a piece of fuel line or plastic hose just slightly thicker than the neck of your cartridge.
Cut an 8" chunk and push it into the chamber for a snug fit...leave it curve out the ejection port....give a spray from the barrel end.......let it drain through...
Sometimes quickload misses a bit on a certain powder. A generous chamber and lots of freebore can make a diff too.
What I do in cases like this is set the top pressure limit I want to load to and ask quickload what powders work best. I then take the top velocity as the ABSOLUTE Max speed I...
The ablr bullets don't have alot of bearing area and are pretty slippery.
The CC 190 data w/work up should work good.
