Finally have the Luxus ready to shoot

Thanks TD...it is similar to the TC action. Breach lock or break action is what I have heard them called.

Finally have the Luxus ready to shoot

The glass in the Victory is a big step up from the HD5 glass. I was on the back porch tonight with it well after sunset and it was like someone turned the lights on when you looked through it. With the illuminated reticle this will be like cheating.

Redoing load development on the 22-250?

Those Rugers had 14 twist barrels, so you are getting close to the max weight/length with a 55 grain bullet of that design. My Ruger #1 would stabilize some 55's, but not all.

Finally have the Luxus ready to shoot

As soon as the weather decides to climb above zero with the wind chills :x . I think I thinned out my blood too much spending 5 weeks in Florida... I may try some of the 250's if the 286's don't shoot. I mainly wanted this caliber for moose hunting, so the heavy bullets are what I hope will...

Finally have the Luxus ready to shoot

Mike: The 9.3X62 won't quite keep up with your Brenneke, but you have to burn quite a bit more powder. Both calibers are supposed to be very efficient on large game.

Finally have the Luxus ready to shoot

About a year ago I stumbled across this rifle on a business trip to Nebraska. This model 11-S (chambered in .270 Winchester) was a special run that Luxus did with lower grade wood, no engraving, and no case-hardening, which they are known for with the standard model 11. The idea was to see if...

    IMR 7977?

I have some 4166 loaded up to test in one of my 6 BRX's. As soon as we have a decent day it will be tested. Varget is what it will be tested against for both velocity and accuracy. There isn't any load data out there, so I will be starting with 6 BR mid-range loads.

.30-30 lever action, who still hunts with one?

The one I have is a safe queen at this point. Pops bought it when he came home from Europe in 1945. It was my biggest thrill as a 7 year old to carry it while my dad drug the first deer I ever saw shot. One of my brothers used it for a while after my dad bought a 7X57 Mauser in the late 60's. I...

fixed power scope for long range shooting?

Take a look at this if you want a little more magnification. http://forum.accurateshooter.com/index. ... =3859964.0 If you are planning on doing some 600 yard + shooting, the extra magnification will be nice. Weaver and leupold both make target scopes (fixed power) from 25 to 45 magnification.

BTW...you are basically getting the barreled action free at $1500.

    Tube gun

This is my Elisio R-1 F built last year with a Pierce Engineering action. Gary and John Pierce collaborated on an action for the Elisio chassis. Mine is a single shot that is used for F-class matches and p-dog towns (6 BRX). The chassis is well thought out and gives you multiple options for cant...

    Barrel Contours

You can use most barrel manufacturers contours to get an idea of what the barrel and weight will be for the given length you want. They will show you the measurements at points along the barrel and give you weights for a finished barrel. http://www.bartleinbarrels.com/contours.htm...

    Lilja polygonal 3 groove

Great barrels that are used by benchrest and other competitive shooters. Should be an excellent barrel for a hunting rifle in the 28 Nosler caliber. The 8 twist will help in spinning the heavier bullets.

Five shot or three shot groups, and barrel contour.

Nice shooting and great topic! Laying in the snow in Idaho makes it even more impressive :) . I'll stick to the heated shacks we have at our club for any load work right now. 3 shot groups work for me with any of my hunting rifles. For target/match rifles, I work up loads using 5 shot groups at...

    35 whelen

I don't see it mentioned by the OP, but what is the caliber that the LSS was originally chambered for? If it is a magnum caliber (.540) you will have to change that out for a .470 bolt face to work with the Whelen. It can be done, but there is more expense you will have to figure into the build.

    Longer barrel need slower powder?

Agree...the powder to use is going to be about the cartridge and bullet weight, not barrel length.

    Lets see your .264's

Yep...couldn't find it this morning and I am sitting in Florida soaking up sun and don't have access to some of my other pictures.

    Lets see your .264's

This was shooting it with Scotty and Brian with 130 accubonds and MagPro. I think some have seen this pic...Brian's buddy isn't getting ready to squeeze one off

    Lets see your .264's

I've backed off that load a bit now Fotis. It was a bit warm and an accuracy load was found with R25 that lopes along at about 3350.
