Yeah, I have a nice 7-08 on a Sako action that was built for mountain hunting (6.75 lbs. with a Swarovski 3-9) that has taken 3 elk and several deer. It is a great caliber and performed well for me using 140 Swift A-frames and 140 Accubonds. My son uses the 120 grain BT's for deer in his...
Don't get me wrong, I really like the 6.5X47 cartridge. For mid-range, it can compete very well with the 6BR and improved versions. The problem I have seen happens once you pass the 800 yard range with many of the calibers that work well at 600.
We had the state LR match won by a guy shooting...
They are not a falling block action, rather it is a breech/break block action similar to a TC. You loosen an Allen screw in the forearm to remove it, 2 screws on the hanger bar, knock out the hinge pin and you can replace the barrel and quarter rib to whatever caliber you want. All the barrels...
You are right Scott, it hasn't been shot yet...it is at the factory getting the 3 other barrels head-spaced right now.
I have the model 11-S, which was a special run Luxus did for Scheels. It doesn't have quite as fancy Turkish walnut as their standard model 11 and is a flat black blueing...
Here is some info on the cartridge:

Most shooters have found the 120-130 grain bullets work best in this small 6.5 cartridge. The heavy for caliber bullets, (139 +) are usually not able to be driven fast enough to make up for the difference...
Gotta be different here...6 Dasher or BRX :) . I see more LR matches being won with these calibers than any others. Brass is easy to fire-form and the added 100-150 fps over the 6BR will help in windy conditions. Our state 1000 yard F-class match was won with a 6 Dasher, beating all the 7 and 30...

Great inexpensive tool for annealing! This makes a lot of sense for someone who isn't doing massive amounts of cases. I would recommend the use of tempilaq as well to help tell you what temps you really are getting to.
I use this one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCWni2nNNeE but anneal...
I am the burr under your saddle, which was not my intention. If you read the last part of my post I stated "this is not intended to tell others not to turn necks, but to let them know that their money and time can be spent in more productive ways; especially for a factory hunting rifle". My...

Knowing the way you reload and how concentric your loads are, I doubt neck turning will add much to your accuracy on the big boomers. Not saying it won't make a little difference when you are sitting at a bench shooting at 200 yards, but it won't make much difference when you are...
I turn necks for some match rifles, but not all. One 6BRX needs to have the necks turned because of a tight chamber, while the other BRX (done by a different gunsmith) doesn't. The one that needs turning is because of the throating reamer that was used. The one that doesn't need to be done had a...
Another powder I found to work well with the 123 Scenar's is VV N540. My best groups and velocities were with this powder. USMC89 seemed to find H4350 with the 130 Bergers to work best.
The reason I never worked with secant ogive bullets (VLD style) in a hunting or tactical rifle is because...
I would get a bump gauge to make sure you are setting the shoulder back. You may have a chamber that is slightly out of spec that will not allow you to only neck size. As others have said, if the bolt will close on the case without the bullet, it may be a tight throat that will require you to...
If you only trim a few calibers, the Little Crow trimmers are the best I have used. They index off the shoulder and give fast repeatable lengths as long as your die is set up properly. I only use them for the calibers that are shot a lot. The fact that they chamfer and deburr while trimming is a...
Than go with this one...http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/12LRP
I just helped my niece's husband mount a scope on one of these in a .243. We haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but everything I have seen about this rifle point to it being a shooter. Depending on what you want the rifle...
Russ and George are already talking about next year! George started working on a new bench he could shoot off (he is 82) instead of laying on the ground. The food was just a bonus of getting to hang out with you and your lovely GF.
Spent last weekend out in Montana with Jeff (USMC89) and a couple guys I shoot F-class with back in Minnesota. We had a great time sending "skippy" on to the next life and enjoying being outdoors in the hills. There was quite an array of rifles, bullets and calibers "tested"!!
Jeff finding the...
