Im looking for a scope to put on a Rem 700P .308 and can't decide which one. I won't be shooting past 500yds and I want a standard plex reticle. The two im considering are the Vortex Viper HS 4x16x44 and the Nikon M-308 4x16x42. Does anyone have any experience with these two scopes and if so how...
Do any of you guys shoot the custom competition bullets and if so what is your overall opinion of them? How do they compare to other match bullets? I want to work up a load for my Rem 700P .308 to shoot targets out to 400 - 500yds and am looking at the 155gr & 168gr HPBT. Thank You!
After the suggestions i think i'm going to start over and seat the bullets to mag length and go from there. I do like being able to feed from the magazine. I appreciate the feedback. Thank You! Mike
I have been working with the 125gr BT in my rem 700 LTR and have a very good load worked up with varget. I usually start at .010 off the lands and work from there but this bullet was way to short for that so I had to seat deeper. Problem is that even with them seated deeper they won't fit in the...
I've owned several 50mm scopes over the years but a 50mm just isn't my ticket. I know a bigger bell means more light and my aging eyes need all they can get but I never could get use to the high mounts and the feel of the taller scope. I like a 40mm because it keeps my cheek in a better position...
I have a good friend who owns one and that's all that he deer hunts with. He uses the 100gr Partition and has been for as long as I can remember. He travels to the state of Kentucky every year and has harvested some really nice bucks there with that combo.
I have both the VX2 and VX3 and i agree the VX3 does tend to put out a little more at dusk and dawn compared to the VX2. The VX2 is an awesome scope for the price.
Thanks!
I'll definitely take you guys advice and smoke the action and check for misfits. The only problem I've had thus far is with the cheesy rear trigger guard screw. I don't know why Remington used such a small screw with such a small head on it.
I called Bell & Carlson requesting the...
This is my daughter's Remington model 7 .260 with a new Bell & Carlson stock. This gun was a great shooter and she's harvested some nice deer with it but the groups started opening up and the accuracy really went down. I was going to glass bed the wood stock but when I removed it I noticed a...
I too love archery and I bow hunt more than anything else. I have a recurve that I play around in the yard with but I've never gotten confident enough with it to use it for hunting so I hunt with a compound. My daughter's 14 and she harvested her first deer (doe) this year with a bow which was...
I've always used Remington brass but recently needed some .308 win and couldn't find any so I went with Lapua and have no regrets. More money but no doubt better quality. Im thinking of trying Lapua in my daughters .260 model 7 and I'd like to give Nosler a try in my 25.06. My brother uses...
