And can't believe I waited that long to try Lapua brass. Yesterday the big brown truck brought me a blue box :mrgreen: .I have always heard and read how Lapua brass is second to none and now I believe it. I have not loaded any yet but the way its packaged and manufactured is amazing. Flash holes are machined and perfectly round ,no burrs on the inside. Primer pockets look awesome, only one case had a small dent in the case mouth. Brass is nice and shiny and annealed.Lately I have been using Nosler 2nds and that is great brass also, however while searching the internet I found a sale on Lapua .308 win for $62.00 for a box of 100. I could not pass it up,and it wont be my last box. I cant wait to start loading this brass and feed this fine Finnish brass to my Tikka. Lee

All of us tend to shy from the expense required to produce a quality product. However, when the product requires less preparation and last longer, we are actually saving money. Eventually, economics prevails, even in the decisions of the most financially pressed hand loader. Good move, Lee.
I also have some for my .308, with just a limited amount of load development I found that it produced the most accurate loading in my rifle. As I said I am not done. With the same components other than the brass, my best 3 shot group has been .198. With federal match cases the best so far is .218. Both plenty accurate for my shooting needs.
DrMike I agree with your assessment. I always used Win or Remington brass and it is okay. But for the 280AI I got Nosler brass & what a difference. I will be ordering either Nosler or Norma brass from now on as it just so much easier to work with :wink: you can just see the quality difference.
PS.I will try Lapua but we do not see it much around here and it is never on sale

I've always used Remington brass but recently needed some .308 win and couldn't find any so I went with Lapua and have no regrets. More money but no doubt better quality. Im thinking of trying Lapua in my daughters .260 model 7 and I'd like to give Nosler a try in my 25.06. My brother uses Nosler brass in all his rifles and constantly brags about the quality of it.

I think of how much time it takes me to uniform primer pockets and debur flash holes on most brands of brass such as Remington, Winchester, etc and I wish that Nosler and Lapua made more calibers! Thankfully Weatherby brass is quite good.
I just went through 200+ cases for Dad's 300 Savage, and it was a few evenings worth of work to get them all prepped. For a small upcharge per case I wish that the primer pockets were square and the flash holes drilled like it is on the better brands!

I am slowly gravitating towards better brass as well. Have had some really bad W-W and R-P brass in the past but also some good batches. I have mentioned it before but my Lapua 260 Rem brass bought about 2 years ago has been extremely disappointing, it is very soft, the neck thickness is uneven and the runout is terrible. Time will tell on how the Lapua 6.5x55 brass we bought works but it seems to be better than the 260 brass. I realize any company can put out bad stuff and it appears most Lapua brass is excellent on average. So far Norma brass has been excellent in everything I have tried but do realize that most likely one day I'll find a bad batch. My one experience with Nosler brass has been good, 264 WM in that case.
