    Quickload Question

I started working with the 220 Speer in my 358 Win and I found a load that shoots really good and while I have not chrono'd it yet that shoulder test shows good speed also. Ruger Hawkeye 358 Win 22" barrel WW Brass WLR Primer Speer 220 .358" FP IMR 3031 - 47.5grs No weird signs, heavy...

    243 next project

Be careful with the 95gr SST on anything fairly close or any bone, explosive is an understatement from what I have seen from them. Not sure what Bergers you are spinning but the 105 Hornady BTSP runs in my 1:9.125" Remington in hot or cold weather. They are a touch shorter than a lot of the...

    New Youth Rifle

The howa rifles I have seen are all accurate and reliable guns. The ruger compacts are nice and rugers are good shooters. It will be hard to find a wood stock in youth size. I know it's not on your list but a Marlin 336Y is hard to beat in 30/30 for the young ones. Short, light, reliable...

    2014 Hunting Pictures

I don't post a whole lot but here is my contribution to 2014 11-15-14 about 5:40 in the evening, you can see the entrance about halfway up, 140lbs live weight doe. Not the best pic but I was on the tail end of food poisoning so it was see, shoot, find, load, leave. lol T/C Encore .50 cal...

Winchester M70 and Talley ring mounts

I used the extended Talley LW's on my LA Remington for a 2-7x33 and they worked great.

    Factory Crimp dies

I use them with the 130 ttsx in my /06's, 35 rem, 45/70, 44 mag, 357 mag and a couple more. If you use the carbide pistol ones and you shoot over sized cast bullets knock that sizer ring out of there to prevent it from resizing your bullets.

    Rem Model 7 & Bell & Carlson

2 medalists for me, one on a Model 70 7wsm and the other on a Mark V 300Wby. Both required bedding, especially the Model 70, both are great stocks and worth it. I bed all my rifles anyway so it was no big deal. Stocky's was running a sale on them. http://www.stockysstocks.com/servlet/th ...

picked up a T/c Thunderhawk 50 cal carbine

Killed my 1st deer with a TC Thunderhawk Carbine w/thumbhole stock. If it's fairly rough I would go to the auto parts store and get some valve grinding compound, make 20 or so passes, clean it and then go to jb bore paste. I use valve grinding compound to lap revolver barrels and polish...

    Seating depth ?

I have read caliber depth, .30 cal bullet seat .308" deep minimum.

    What chambering would you use?

I am a 6.5mm fan but the more I shoot my 6's the more I like them. I would probably go 243 AI or even a 6mm AI twisted tight for 105's and 115's. I may have just gotten lucky but both my 243's are the easiest rifles I have to find a load for. But then there is the 6.5 SAUM that seems to...

    Factory Seconds...

Looks good I know with mine the harder I pushed them the better they shot. Going from 44grs of H4831 to 45.2grs H4831 cut groups from almost 2" for 3 shots to .7" for 5 shots. I think you will really like those as hunting bullets.

    Barnes 105gr Match Burner

I loaded up some 105 Match Burners for my .243 win Rem 700 ADL to rezero everything after a paint job. Groups were good, right around .5" for 3 shots @ 100yds. I had 1 round left and I had one milk jug and a pair of 2 gallon jugs filled up with water to see how it would do against something...
