I have a new to me, Winchester M70 Featherweight in 280.

It came with dual turn in Leupold mounts and rings, but they are spaced too far apart for a Leupold 2.5-8x36.

Thinking I want to use a pair of Talleys, but will the Talleys enable a 2.5-8 Leupold on a long act M70?

Thanks

I used the extended Talley LW's on my LA Remington for a 2-7x33 and they worked great.

...I'd look to see if you can turn the bases around before I bought new rings & bases...

Good point, Gene. I've used Talley rings on my Model 70 FW (280 Rem) with a 2.5-8X36. No problems.

I'm running Talley steel mounts on my .338 Win Mag.
Only mounts I use these days unless it's a Ruger. Give Talley a call and pick their brain. That's what I always do and they have yet to steer me wrong. I use lightweights and steel, depending on the caliber, and I've been very happy.

Forgot to add, I use the lightweight one piece mounts on my 6.5x284 and 25-06. I had a Gunsmith friend mount a scope for me and he commented that Talley was the best factory production mount he'd ever seen on a consistent basis.

I use Tally steel bases and TPS steel rings. The rings are guaranteed to be within .0004 TIR bore to base.
