Was just wondering what everone else uses
to seat primers with. Been having some issues
lately had to uniform some pockets in new WW
brass....almost forgot what it was like haven't
used new brass in a long long time.
Finished the chg wt. for 8208XBR in my .308 today.
With 168SMK's looks like 41.8 was the best accuracy
and 43.0 having good hunting velocity with MOA @ 100.
Over all its a good powder I did load duplicate Chg's @42.0
to shoot at different temps. I had a +50 fps higher reading
at 73 deg today...
Returned from range today. Started load @40.0 went up .5gr to 42.5
1st node was at 40.05 2nd was at 42.0
42.0 gave a 3 shot .613 @100
No pressure signs @42.5 good primers
smooth lift. I suspect a 3rd node around 43.5
will try 43 and 43.5 next.
I am getting about 4.6% less velocity than
QL...
I always wanted a Vertex machine when I first saw one used
but could'nt justify the 500$. I have plenty of new .340 brass
and .308 I keep telling myself. I have not seen an induction type machine
in person but would like to know more about them.
I could see the shoulders being soft and to much...

I need better glasses....
My .308 has a 26" tube
Would you mind running QL again ?
.308 Win Brass
Fed 210M
8208XBR
168 SMK
165 SGK
Trim 2.005
Coal 2.800
Ogive 2.215
With my supply of Varget on the decline and no replacement
in sight I jumped on a jug of 8208 XBR for my .308.
I see the data listed from IMR can anyone give me the heads
up on this new powder for me ? I use 165 and 168's. Thanks in advance. Skid
Does not make sense to me Agencys would pay for tracking collars with cameras
and then pay to wipe out specific packs ? Makes me wonder sometimes.
I would hate to encounter some eating machine in a remote area field dressing
game. Best be careful out there Guy.
I have to agree with Rick. Each bullet type will have to be seated
to specific ogive measurement based on the distance to the lands.
Unfortunately most of us are restricted by mag length for hunting. I
would choose a bullet for what performance I need then have the
pleasure of working the load...
