I`ve been driving the 52 gr Nosler CC at ~ 3100 fps from aWin 1885 high Wall in 223 with a 1/12 twist. Groups are averaging in the 0.5" to 0.6" mark for 5 rds.
I wouldn`t expect a 22-250 to have any trouble stabilizing them.
The same 260 Rem ammo fired in my Kimber M84 22" bbl and in my 24" M700 gives the same numbers over my Pact chrono when extreem spead is figured in. A 20" M7 in 7-08 I used to have was within ~50 fps of my 24" M700, again useing the same loads.
I can`t hit anything far enought out to have the...
I`ve a Kimber M84 with 22" bbl and a M700 SS/DM 24" bbl I bought when Remington 1st announced the 260 cartridge. The velocity between the two is within 25 fps with my handloads, and suprisingly the shorter barrel often is the faster. Both are equally accurate.
I prefer the Kimbers shorter OAL...
Wipe for copper. I have been useing their "Patch Out" lately. The cleaner is the same but it isn`t a pressurize spray. You patch it in the bore like you would any cleaner and let tit set. I find short stroking the patch works up a lather that seems to work a bit quicker. Might just be me though...
I don`t fault Nosler too much for this. If one looks Hornady, Sierra, and Speer all show velocity from various rifles in place of test barrels, and none of them match up. They get the same type results from various rifles you will. Without chrono`ing your load in your rifle the velocity is...
Actually as the seater acts on the ogive they should not vary in "jump", but will be seated to a slight difference in base depth. This will affect pressures but probably not enought to cause them to vary more then the "normal" pressure spread of the load.
Unless you are shooting 1000 yd...
The short answer is I wouldn`t advise it. You may get away with it for years then one day pop a primer or worse.
Loads listed as max are only max for sure in the rifle they were developed in. The load could well be under or over in your rifle, and the components used in it development are a big...
I only load the 357 & 44 mag, I`ve no experiance with the 40 cal at all.
I agree with the others, H110/W296 is the powder I use most in my loads for both. Unique does a good job if you are loading midrange plinking or cast lead loads.
I`d bet if you went to 5 rd groups in stead of 3 the flier will disapear in the rest of the shots in the groups. The fact one appears in each group you shoot is a clue IMO that it is a normal part of the rifles grouping ability.
I`ve had the exact same pistol for ~5 years and have yet to find a load it won`t feed and shoot with exceptable accuracy. I load for a 45 acp Kimber also and the Ruger is less fussy across the board IMO. Although the Ruger is somewhat bulky feeling in hand and ugly as bar babe in the morning...
The sound is the mixed effect of hot gas of up to 10K psi hitting the air from a small tube and the sonic crack of the bullets flight. Both need to be addressed to quite the report.
