Booking the Hunt
In earlier chapters we looked at some basics: budget, travel, firearms, and where to go and generally what to hunt. So far I have been doing the work, and you have just been sitting back and reading the magazine. I did recommend that...
I have been acquiring White muzzleloading rifles for the last two years, and I now have three that are excess to my needs. Any interest in a M97 .451; M97 .504; and an UltraMag .504? All are used.
thanks...jim
Thanks for the report. I have field checked some Vortex optics at a past Media Range Day at SHOT. They offered me some loaners, but when I sent them an email after the Show that was the last I heard from them.
The thing I love about Leupold's service is they deliver. I don't know about these...
Yea, I like the .375s too.
RR1,
I would like to try the .375 UM one of these days as well. Just now I recycled my .376 Steyr and .375 H&Hs for a .375 Ruger.

Today the voices told me to clean all the guns
In the first articles in this series I told you how to figure what your hunt will cost, and described what traveling will...
bear,
As I recall the F was a model designator, and IIRC was the next in the series. Those rifles were chambered for newer higher pressure cartridges, mine was a .358 Win.
They generally shoot well unless somebody has boogered the muzzle cleaning the rifle. Re-cutting the crown will fix this.

Thanks guys!
My wife and I were talking this week on which country and which outfitter we like to hunt with again, or maybe we would go off in a new direction. I don't think we came to a conclusion, at least she didn't tell me we did. ;)

The numbers below are a bit out of date, but they are good for comparison purposes...jim

Jim, what is an African safari going to cost me?” I get that question a lot from hunters who are looking to book a first hunt to the Dark Continent; it is often the first...
I had a couple of Nitrex optics to take a look at. They are Japanese built for the ATK folks, not the cheapest not the high end either.
I used to shoot my .220 Swift with a Weaver K10, and the Nitrex was at least the equal of that scope and probably better.

Getting There is None of the Fun
I say that because international travel means sitting in an airplane seat, eating airplane food, enduring the travel bureaucracy and generally being uncomfortable for an interminable period of time. Its saving grace is...
Thank you, gents. Some of the conditions have changed, but the general comments are still good. You can hunt a black rhino if you can pony you the $100,000 of so for the trophy fee.
If the moderators are cool with it, I will post more...thanks...jim
This is one of a series of articles I wrote for African Hunter in 2002. if folks are interested, I can post the other articles as well. I retained the copyrights, so no problem.
