    Complaint; Shipping dept is LAME

Ordered a few bags of 6.5 bullets from you back on the 10th, and ordered a bunch from another firm at same time, their order showed up yesterday. Their freight was about HALF price of SPS. Just checked the status of my order. ORDER # 2000076806 It's still showing ' label created ' and has not...

    Reloading used to be cheaper

Saying you might be able to reload the brass 10x isn't truly relivent as the actual cost to buy it at about $1 a piece means that first loading for box of shells is $1 not the .10 cents you might be able to amortize it into at some time in the feature? So using a Buck a piece for brass to load...

    Rifle Prices...

This bubble is about to go down like the Chinese balloon 🎈! When I was looking for a 45/70 to play with last fall, I remember all the old tryed and true 1895 Marlins "pre COVID" that were at all the gun shows here in Maine were fetching $5/700 . Now anything with a JM stamp on it is north of a...

    Now for Marlin Maniacs!

Back about 30 years ago an old Winchester collector told me. " If I was your age I would buy rare Marlins, there are little competition at gun shows, and even though they cost the same as Winchester's when both new at turn of century, they are now about half price! He claimed it was because of...

    Lyman 1886 tang sight.

For anyone interested, the price for a real Lyman tang sight to fit either a Winchester 1886 or Marlin 1895, has gone out into the ozone! Prices start at $500 and quickly escalate to over $1000 for minty ones. These so called 'long stem' rare sights, were out of reach to the layman until Lyman...

    .358 Bullets to trade?

Hi Greg ! Sorry I missed this reply! Thanks for answering my posting. I had lots of responses and though I had recently purchased some 200 gr Hornady's from Graf's , I wound up with a bunch more from trades! I was particular seeking Speers 220gr for my old 35 Remington. I was able to secure a...

What to do with a pretty stock?

Guy, If I had that butt stock I would make a lamp base with it , top it with a game scene shade and it would be spectacular! You can lower shade to cover crack completely.

    Trapped again

Roger, If you haven't tryed this; as you watch the fire burn down, then I highly recommend that you do over cracked ice! OMG good .

Alaskan Brown Bear Almost gets the Hunters

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet but was first bad mistakes he made was shooting at it when it was barely out of the hole, it could have easily wound up back in there wounded...😣 That could have been huge problem either way ,dead or alive. The sad truth is like lots of folks, he was so...

    More 348 work.

Since I have never owned a .348, I probably shouldn't comment on it: However I do have a bunch of guide friends, that have luged then for decades. Got to listen to lots of .348 story's from them. I have watched my clients shoot Moose and Bear with them for years. I could see no difference in how...

Good God Scotty, I knew you were going to prance that rifle out sooner or later 🙉. That is behond just handsome, it's about in same league as a fine English gun. Classy firearm that now is owned by a pretty classy fella! All the best buddy, very impressive. E

Alaskan Brown Bear Almost gets the Hunters

This is the exact reason that many guides won't allow "hand loads" on Brown Bear hunts........ Polar bear guides absolutely all said NO to handloads for this very reason! They ALL had problems with them. Shade tree; If you were ever with me on a bear hunt, and listen to the impact of a 100yd...

Alaskan Brown Bear Almost gets the Hunters

Well when I was a snot nosed apprentice guide back in 1970's . Old Ward Gay who had guided Kodiak since 1930's told me . " Son never more than 100 yds and never less than 50yds". He knew exactly what he was talking about. Same thing holds true today.......... Fireing at bears are 400 yds is...

What have you taken moose with?

175 yds. 73" Alaskan Bull one shot with 180 gr Partitions...... Plain Jane old 30/06....... One of many dozens that have fallen to that non- magnum caliber.

Sum up "what have you taken XYZ with?" Threads

I used an old 6.5x55 to shoot dozens of big Red Stag on New Zealands South Isle. They are no harder to kill than a big Maine Whitetails, it would flatten em...... Ditto with the Chamois/ Thar.

    The all arounder/utility/truck rifle

I have a 22/250 under the seat of my truck. 8 twist loaded with 90 gr bullets @3000. On wing strut of the Cub I have .243W but sometimes I reverse which gun is where. Both work equally well on winter Coyotes up to 50lbs.

The Runner(s) Up - All around cartridge

This is a prime example of a Magnum rifle on a bear at over 400. We saw this same result many times over the years.

The Runner(s) Up - All around cartridge

An interesting note on this choices; it never ceases to amaze me how many folks own 2/3/4 MAGNUM rifles...??? However I really wonder what percentage of them will ever hunt Africa/Alaska.????? When I quiz hunters WHY they think they need one they all say " so I can take 400 PLUS yard shots". Of...
