H380 was too slow in my bolt gun loads. I d say LVR or CFE223 is about the slowest yo use. You can go from TAC to LVR with 90-110 gr bullets. Real light, like 70-80 grs and then can use some powders even faster than TAC or H4895.

The old Hornady 139 interlock, both SP and BTSP, has always shot really well in 7-08 s for me. It has a short bearing surface and 2840 + fps is really easy. With a 24” barrel rifle I ve gotten to upper 2800 s and 2900 fps ish. Quite affordable too !

To expand powder choices, VV N540 or N550 would work nicely along with others that have already been mentioned

Over many years, yes I m old ! , I ve seen many powders from H4895 to 4350 burn rates do the trick. Probably the more popular ones are H380, Varget and 4895 and 4064 varieties. If you already have something in this burn rate area, give it a try. A couple 3 shot groups and you ll soon know...

Fishing has gotten relatively in-expensive comparably …. Hint. I m not gonna willingly get taken to cleaners. My shooting will decrease and I ll find other, more favorable hobbies cost wise for at least some of my discretionary $$$

I too have seen a ton of promotions … maybe the rooster has come home to crow…??!!! These retailers can’t expect the extreme prices and record sales ( out of stocks) to continue forever. Hope we start seeing some “de-inflation” …. Been taking advantage of us long enough. Hang tough guys!!

I d try getting 160 or so rounds it getting brass fireformed and then group/chrono again. Brand new barrels usually get an additional 50-75 fps after totally broke in. Sometimes bites guys on the hiney ….. if they pick a load before barrel totally broke in. Ask me how I know 😂 And I ve seen a...

Sure didn’t see where SEC scrutinized the consolidation of powder companies and being watchdog for consumers …. Think about that for a while regarding our gov t s true interests …. Just sayin …..

If more guys said “keep it” the top side will soften … for last 3 yrs or so no one is letting dust settle on can tops …. Shooters have started an auction atmosphere and retailers are pouring it to everyone; my sentiments anyway.

Try some TAC or H335….. a little quicker powder might do the trick. (Unless you want a quicker burn stick powder and once again case fill might become challenging)

You still vote with your wallet …. I buy less these days and only if I see a fair price. Let the “crap” sit on their shelves and they ll re-adjust pricing….. if not cause they re that stubborn, lacking business savvy, etc they ll just run their business into the ground. JMHO
