Planning a new 243 AI this year, but am having a heck of a time finding a donor action. Plan is a lilja or hart 28" barrel, 1-9.5 or 10 3 groove, SS barrel. Rem Varmint contour, bed into a B&C A5 or 3(depending on availible funds)
and hopefully find some nice glass for it. Planning on running...
I can't say I've heard alot of wildly inaccurate thigns at the range locally in recent memory, at some of the shops in the city you hear various opinions.
Some insightful, some that really make me chuckle.
The Bonnyville range is really good, but has a relatively small membership. Most week...
If I jump the Berger VLD 0.1-0.2" it can shoot .2-3 MOA @ 3040FPS
Charge is 77 grn of WC 860. If I leave them closer to the lands and try to get 78 grain it makes the bolt tight and is overlaoded as far as I am concerned.

0.001-0.0015, that is exactly what it ended up being. The barrel was chambered with a "turn" reamer not a no turn.
It shoots pretty good, but is a bit of a bother to case prep for. My only issue with it is I have 1-8.5 twist and can't seem to get over 3050FPS with 140 grn Bergers or SMK's.

Brought a smile to me here too.
Long live Freedom & America!!
I can't say I love some of the multi billion dollar american companies we have to compete with here in the oil patch. However as countries, we've been likeminded neighbours that have coexisted peacefully since the end of War of...
I had that exact gun in slightly better shape, AWESOME guns. It loved Retumbo and Noslers. I worked up to a hearty charge of retumbo with a 130 Accubond and it was very accurate @ 3300 FPS. As I said, work up.... Be careful loading for that one until you know if it's been throated or where the...
I'd suggest getting your chamber opened up to a 338 edge. It's just a 300 Rum necked up to 338 without moving the shoulder. A side benefit is that it is ballistically superior to the 338 RUM. That is my opinion, however, I've never used a 338 Edge. There is one or two guys that have them here.

I seem to go thro pahses as well.
I think the 6mm's are great. They have enough zip to shoot 1km on paper, but really managable recoil and low powder usage.

I'd think that we/you would need a look at that buck's carcass to actually know where and what happened. Supposition would lead to assumptions, but we'll never know for sure, the deer was unrecovered.
Sounds like a decent chance and one of the times nobody wins, regrettable, but likely still...
You guys are right, I should at least give it a bit of range time before trying to fix a brand new rifle.
I'll give it a try and post range results when it warms up.
It's -28 with a 9MPH wind today. Good day to reload and drink coffee.
Perhaps I'm just feeling sheepish because that 7mm rm...
In October I bought a NIB Sako 75 in 7mm Rem. I've been fairly busy and haven't got around to breaking in the barrel or anything. Now as it gets colder during the winter I get to tinkering with my reloading bench and coming up with ideas to build something interesting.
I am asking myself if I'd...
I've got a Lyman Crusher II and it's been ok. About 2 years ago one of the eyes broke, big chunk of cast just fell off the bottom of it when I was resizing some 7mm or 30-378 brass. So, I am not saying it's a great press, but it still works. Lots of leverage & quite a bit of window. I've still...
There is an exchange forum on the canadiangunnutz.com forum and stuff goes for cheap on there. AND it's in Canada, so for me that is huge.
I still keep an eye on gunbroker.com and have looked into the process of importing, but it would have to be a heck of a deal to merit that hassle. I'd only...
Well, Hornady bullets work ok on paper, real accurate, but every now and then a target will try to get up and flee off the back board
ok ok fine, I've never lost an animal from using Hornady bullets, but the times I did use them I got full jacket seperation and...
what the hunter should use ought to be a step up from what is adequate and should encompass what gives him the best chance of making a humane, quick kill. No matter what the caliber, or bullet speed, or angle of the shot, if the game is killed humanely and quickly, there will be meat to dine...
