    Advice for someone starting out

I don't have the LR experience that others here have but I've always felt 400 yards separates the men from the boys. Verification of a drop chart is a must. It takes some time and tweaking but once you have it, you are halfway there. The wind is the biggest hurdle to get past and trigger time is...

    Loading .270 without the rifle

What Guy said. Without the rifle, it's just a guess. If you are going to load, start out with virgin brass, load to SAAMI spec COAL and stay away from the warm loads. The classic powder for the 270 Win is H4831SC so that would be a good starting point. JD338

Weatherby Accumark Limited 6.5 Wby RPM

I'll give the 140 gr BT a try on some crop damage deer this summer. For the TX hogs, I'm thinking about using the 142 gr ABLR. JD338

Weatherby Accumark Limited 6.5 Wby RPM

I realized today that I am temp sensitive. I walked out of the heated barn into 10°f and 10 mph winds. JD338

    Moving Bench

Howie I did what Todd did. You can't have enough cabinets for storage so don't take any shortcuts. Cabinets above the bench top with under cabinet lighting is the way to go and gives it a clean uncluttered look. Extra electrical outlets is a good thing too. JD338

I’m sure my neighbor has been working….

I took all the racks down in my pole barn this past summer so I could finish the interior. Once done, I hung them back up. My barn is 40x60x14'. JD338

Nosler Solid Base bullets are back

The Solid Base bullets are great bullets for deer. I've used the 308 165 SB in a 308 Win and 6.5 140 SB in the 6.5 Wby RPM to take WT deer. Both loads also shoot .5 MOA. I will use the 140 SB in the 6.5 Wby RPM this spring on TX hogs. JD338

    CVA Cascade XT 35 Whelen

A buddy has a CVA Cascade in 7-08. He brought it over last summer to get it zeroed in. With inexpensive PPU 140 gr ammunition, it was shooting .7" groups. Needless to say, I was impressed. It's a nice rifle, especially at the price point it's at. I would think that the 35 Whelen offering would...
