Picked up a new Springfield Ronin 1911 in 45 ACP in December, put 50 rounds through it within minutes of buying it. Excellent performance. My only complaint is that the thumb safety feels mushy when putting it on safe. Nice click though when taking it off safe. The sights are big and bold with a fiber optic sight up front. Nicely finished pistol. Accurate and reliable. I've been favorably impressed with "dot" type sights for quite a while now, decades, and bought this version of the Ronin because the slide is already cut for optics. Springfield also sells optics mounting plates that fit right on their pistol and the gun comes with a coupon for a good discount on the plate of choice.
This Holosun 509T is a "closed emitter" meaning that the laser is well shielded from dirt and the elements. It has the "shake awake" feature and the emitter goes to sleep after 10 minutes with no motion. As soon as the gun is picked up, the reticle of choice pops right up. There's a choice of a 2 MOA dot, a large circle, 32 MOA I think, or the circle with a dot in it. Also there are numerous brightness settings for both daylight/ambient light and also several for use with night vision. It's a good unit. I got mine with the green reticle.
The Holosun comes with a small tool for mounting it and adjusting the windage & elevation. I used a Wheeler inch-pound torque driver to mount the optic plate and the sight itself, but used Holosun's little screwdriver tool for the adjustments.
Fired only 230 grain CCI Blazer FMJ though it so far. No malfunctions. Good accuracy. I'll get back to my handloads in due time.
This was the only 1911 holster I had on hand that was cut for optics. I used this holster for a while as a concealment holster when I was a cop. It's a Blackhawk Serpa, but not the one with the infamous "button" which has been deemed unsafe by many.
Final 7 yard sight-in target. Yup, I messed up and put that one out left of the group. BTW, this zero also worked well out to 25 yards, the limit of the indoor range where I was shooting.
