    F-class National Championship

A really nice feature of the e-target from Silver Mountain is that it registers the velocity of the bullet at the target. The 6BR AI of mine had a range of velocities from 2417 - 2438 at 300 yards. These leave my barrel using a LabRadar chronograph at an average of 2930 fps, with an ES of 7 for...

    F-class National Championship

Guy - We shoot with sling shooters at all of the LR matches and some of the MR matches that are small (less than 20 in each discipline). I admire their ability to get "slung up" more than most F-class guys, because I know how much I hated getting twisted into a pretzel when I was in the Corps...

    F-class National Championship

DF - They were still shooting a 1 moa target at that time. It has been .5 moa targets for about 10 years now. You will especially notice it if your vertical is not at it's best. Not saying you need a SEB to start with, but you will more than likely be disappointed with a rest like the article is...

    F-class National Championship

This is a piece of equipment that should be a buy once/cry once over almost everything we "need" to be competitive. I have seen too many guys that buy inferior rests, end up replacing them after the first year. I just sold my Farley to a new this year shooter, who tried to get by on a Caldwell...

    F-class National Championship

Looks good DF! You will need to get rid of that muzzle brake before you get to the line... How long is the barrel on the dasher? Have you had it out for a test drive yet? What are you planning on using for a front rest (Farley, SEB, etc...)? Looks like you have a few matches coming...

    22-250 Ackley Improved Advice

I use the COW method of fire forming for all my AI cases now. It is a PITA, but it sure saves on barrel wear when you do 500 of them...

    22-250 Ackley Improved Advice

Use the 55 grain bullets if the 14 twist barrel will stabilize them. I have a buddy that shoots the same chambering for p-dogs, but don't know what his load is. Start with a max load for the standard 22-250 (once fireforming is done) and work up with the powders that give 92-95% case fill. You...

    Thoughts on the 6.5 creed.

Here's a old article on the medium sized 6.5 cases that is worth a read. http://demigodllc.com/articles/6.5-shoo ... dmoor/?p=5 There were several guys that shot the RPR 6.5 Creedmore this summer at our 600 yard f-class matches. Most were newer shooters that used bipods for a front rest and...

neck turning to remove high spots

I use FL bushing dies for most of my varmint and all my competition rifles. Some guys only neck size until chambering a round becomes an issue, but I prefer a .002 shoulder bump after each firing. On new (unfired) brass, run a mandrel through the neck to open it up to fit on your turning...

    Silly question dealing with twist

Yep, this is about the only problem I see. I tried some 65 grain light jacketed bullets in a 6mm 7 twist a couple years ago and all you would see is a puff of smoke about 50 yards in front of the barrel.

.1 vs .02 digital powder scales

Interesting discussion guys... Strain vs. electromagnetic scales is covered off pretty well by this article: http://balance.balances.com/scales/1223 The OP doen't really spell out what long range shooting means, or for what purpose. This was my testing last week for a rifle used for mid-range...

    I'm Having Trouble Keeping Up

Distributors are saying sometime in June. One of the main attributes R16 is supposed to have over R15 is the lack of temp sensitivity. Most guys that use R15 for their 6 BR variations find that loads pushed close to max in cooler temps will be a problem when the temps get into the 80's+. Varget...

    Case Neck Tension

Differing neck tension is one of the main contributors to vertical stringing of groups. I don't pay as close attention to all the details on my hunting brass as I do my competition brass, but the steps listed in the above article are important. I found a combo last week while load testing a new...

    6.5x47's new diet

Was shot 1 a cold bore shot, or had you fired some fouling shots before that? The other 4 look pretty good. (y)

    6.5x47's new diet

Pretty similar to mine. I have a .295 neck and 180 FB. The necks have all been turned to about an 80% cleanup. Still playing with a couple different bushing for neck tension. I'm using 140 hybrids with .012 jump. My barrel is telling me it likes 40 grains of H4350 with the little work I have...

    6.5x47's new diet

What powder and charge? Are you jumping or jamming the vld's? What is your throat and free bore on your chamber? Sorry for all the questions, but I am in the middle of load work for mine and need to know how close it is to my specs.

    Ruger RAR 223 H4895 77 Sierra TMK's and HDY 75 grain HPBT

Powder Valley has both the 69's and 77's in stock Scotty. http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/ G1 BC is quite a bit better on the 77's over the 69's, (420 vs 375)

    Ruger RAR 223 H4895 77 Sierra TMK's and HDY 75 grain HPBT

If your barrel has a 7.5 twist or faster, you should try some of the 80.5 fullbore bullets from Berger. They shot the best of any bullet in my .223 with 8208 and Varget. Some of the new "tipped" Sierra .224 cal bullets are supposed to be really good as well. Dr. Mike; everyone should have...

    IMR 4166 for 308 WIN...

I have a couple lbs of 4166 that I was going to test in a 6BR. Hodgdon website says 43-48 grains with the 150 Nosler BT. It has almost the same burn rate as Varget/ R15, so I think you can use the starting load and work up from there. It's not supposed to be temp sensitive so you should be able...
