I use 53.5 gr (max) imr 4831 seated to .020" off the lands with the 140 NAB. Getting right at 2900 fps. Groupings of ~.500-.800. Good enough for my hunting load.
Yes very much so.
So look for close and consistent fps readings and when you see that differ no more than 30 fps from shot to shot, you are getting close. Then adjust seating depth to fine tune. Yes?
Taking some out today (300 win mag) and the chrono. Could be interesting at the least. Lol...
With the chrono what can that tell me besides fps? Never used it in load development actually. I do have one and actually have it packed to take to the range today for my 300. Gotta load i think is good but was curious on fps with 180 gr partitions. Thx
Jim, thank you bud.
From Nosler:
"Please split the difference between the 130gr. and the 150gr. data in the manual."
This sound like it should work? Or should I resort to h4831sc...due to it being published?
Thanks again guys.
Browning x bolt 22" barrel. Several reloaders love it and have great accuracy with this load. If it dont work I am gonna go to h4831sc. I also have 3 lbs of rl22. So I am sure I can get it tweeked just right. Thx. Just not sure of the charge thats min/max.
Wanting to shoot the 140 gr accubond out of my 270. I want to use rl-22 as what I've been reading it is very good. I do not find rl22 listed in my manual for 140 gr. But i do see it for 150 gr. I do have an email into Nosler at this time. Any suggestions? Thx.
In my experience when this happens you are very very close to finding your perfect combo. Go up .3 grains on your powder charge and you should be right where you wanna be. This has worked for me. 243 shouldnt heat up too mich shooting 3 shots to cause this. You are close.
Have an elk hunt in 5 weeks. I put the 300 away and gonna use the 270 win. I feel more comfortable behind the 270. Looking for powder recomendations for 150 gr partitions? Any recipes for this rifle/bullet combo? Thx guys.
i like a clean bore too, but I think I maybe getting all copper/carbon out of it then it is like starting over. Since it was brand new (40 rounds ago) I may just swab once and get the powder residue out and continue to shoot. Will just have to play with it. Thanks guys.
Scotty, i have some sweets as that is what i used on that 243. So you are saying go ahead and clean it good now for copper(22 shots since last thorough cleaning) or just some hoppes with a wet patch then dry?
Mountain goat that is very possible. Should I run one patch down to get the debris but not clean it well well? Or leave as is until accuracy suffers?
I am anal cause i let a 243 get away from me a while back and i never thought i was going to get it clean. So much copper fouling in that barrel.
Wildgene, yes I know where to adjust it. I also have a torque wrench to get the action screws to just the right amount. I am gonna do this before I go out. Thanks for the link bud.
Scotty, yea gonna make some 74 and 75 grs to COAL and some to .030 off the lands and grooves. See if it helps or...
Scotty, yes. This is cheap winchester ammo and i think i can shrink them with handloads quite a bit. You know i have not gotten these good of groups since i bought it. So maybe its finding its nitch. Ready to drop an Elk in Oct.
