Browning x-bolt 270 powder needed...using 150 gr partitions?

Have an elk hunt in 5 weeks. I put the 300 away and gonna use the 270 win. I feel more comfortable behind the 270. Looking for powder recomendations for 150 gr partitions? Any recipes for this rifle/bullet combo? Thx guys.

WMRP or CCI 200 primer.
Start around 56 grains.
You can typically work up to 58gr in Remington brass.
58.5 in Winchester brass.

Will almost always shoot under an inch in any .270 Win.

Here is what I use my 270,s.

IMR-4831, 55 for targets, 56 for elk hunting or anything else.
150 Partition
cci-200 primers
Rem cases

H-4831 works very well for me also. I get a bit better velocity with IMR in my short 22 inch barrels.

Good choice of bullet for sure! I found myself doing the same thing when I still had my 300 Win Mag, that is putting it back in the gun cabinet and collecting my 30-06 for deer or elk hunting.

That 150 PT in my opinion (with the exception of the 264 Win Mag and 140 PT's) should be the minimum cartridge and bullet for elk hunting here in Oregon!

My favorite load for this cartridge and bullet is 55 grains of H4831 for about 2875-2900 fps at the pipe with a 24" barrel. It gets about 2800-2850 with 22" inch barrels but shoots well and is a great elk load.

The two classic loads for the .270 are 55.0 grains of IMR 4350 or 58 grains of IMR 4831 with Federal 210 primer. These loads are for 130 grain Partition or AccuBond bullets. I have been using the 4350 load in two different .270 Winchesters for 50 years. If you are going to shoot 140 or 150 gr bullets lighten loads accordingly.

I would look at RL22 as well for your 270. It seems to shine with the heavier bullets. Usually I have found if a rifle does okay with H4831 it will do the same or better with RL22... I am using the 150gr PT's in my 270WSM this year at 3120FPS. Should get somethings attention! Scotty

150 PT shoot well in my Sako 22 inch with Rl-22 of 58gr and Gm 215 magnum primers. 2850 FPS very accurate. This is my best load for 150 PT. With H4831 I could not get the same velocity.
If you have Norma MRP or N560 they should work very well.
H4831sc works better with 130 PT. My load is 60 gr of H4831sc, CCI BR2 primers and about 1/2 inch accuracy at 100 yards. COL is 3.295. 2975 fps. Great deer load.
